Jamaican Men!!!

Ok, so i just recently started talking to this Jamaican guy at my job. He seems to be very nice and honest about things. The only problem is that my mom doesn't want me to communicate with him at all! She says their crazy, marry lots of women, get very possessive and do voodoo, etc. I mean they are so much stereotypes about them, you know. And you can't believe everything you hear. I know my mom is just looking out for my well being but what are you guys thoughts about this? Based on friendships with Jamaican men or relationships with them? What should I look out for?

Be ready to start cooking and eating
only Jamaican food.

If you are light skinned and black He may try to
play with your mind and make you feel inferior.
They are suspicious of light skinned females.

Be ready for a very Cheap Man !

Be ready to Tolerate His Woman pon the side
& her offspring. Be ready for His siphoning money off of your shared income to support her and her family.
If you complain about the money missing, you might get beat up!

Be ready a year or two into the relationship when
He wants to bring the girl over to the USA
and have you both!

Be ready for alot of backwards taboos enforced
on you from his culture, like obeah, homophobia & misogyny.

and the Man's friends will make jokes about you
"the main woman" their male friends, when they talk about their outside women.

They can be very chauvinistic
& set in their ways not wanting to
try anything new at all!
Even in the Bedroom and
He may physically abuse you
and call you a whore if you suggest
some new sexual positions or practices!

Not all of them are this way,
but a great deal of them really are!

I've dealt with several Jamaican men..They aren't any different than the men I've dealth with from the states & other countries....I've meet men from the states & other countires that were crazy, have lots of women, possessive-I can't realate to the voodoo part..Lol...I understand mom has your best intrest at heart & that's good..But a certain culture can't be sterotyped based on what has been said about them..You have to get to know someone on an indiviual basis...To me it's nothing to look out for when dealing with Jamaican men...A man no matter where they are from are not going to do anymore to you than you allow them to do......I'm American & my unborn baby's dad is Jamaican..We get along fine....Good luck..:)

She gave up almost everything
to be with this Jamaican Man.
She took up all of his causes, started
listening to only reggae music and
started empathizing with everything Jamaican

It look horrible!
She is always on jamaican websites
defending jamaican people and trying to

It's just strange
She was an OK, white girl
from Indianapolis a coworker, then she turned into a "jah-fakin" overnight with dirty/green blond stringy, pot scented locs.
She always has to bring up how white and Good She is at being flexible for sex positions and sexing Black Men on the jamaican forums. She has changed.

I don't see that her "Husband" is making an effort
to accept her family or get a job . I say that because to this day, she does not have a wedding ring or has shown anyone a marriage license from Jamaica yet and it's been over 7 months !

Maybe some Jamaican Men have a thing against buying their wives jewelry? or the wedding ring is still on layaway or something?????

You must be one unhappy person ... a stinking hater!!! So what as long as she is happy what does that have to do with you. You are probably ugly and smelly and have no one who cares about you!!! I can tell you never had any one buy you anything.

But your right I have to get to know him and not make judgements. And I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. And like you said a man can only go as far as I let him. But I talked with him I told him we should just be friends, see where that takes us. But with any man my guard is always up but I swear when I am not looking for a man, its like raining men, lol.

I agree with you on that 100%. I always try to be myself b/c a man doesn't love me for me than I am wasting my time. I refuse to apologize for who I am (ethnicity) and where I come from (country).

Anytime & thank you! Being friends first is always good.. But if it progresses & don't work out, please don't say it was b/c he was Jamaican..Usually, that's when you are not looking for something, you find it...Have you tried the African-American Topix?
