I was born in Modica, and came to the US in 1947 on the ship S.S. Marine Perch and I now live in venice fl. If you were born in Modica and now live in the US, I would like to hear from you.

I also came to America on the Marine Perch. The ship left from Napoli (Naples). I saw on the web that the ship left from Germany. What port did you leave from.

My husband's grandfather came to the U.S. in 1947 from the S.S. Marine Perch from Napoli also. He passed away in the 1970's and I have been doing some ancestry research. I found a photo of the Marine Perch doing a google search.

I also saw that it came from Germany. I have had trouble finding information about it leaving from Napoli but did find a passenger manifest with his name on it on ancestry.com

My mom and my Uncle came to the USA from Bari, Italy in Nov 1947 on the Marine Perch. I have a picture of them on the boat along with a group of people. I will try to upload it somehow. Maybe you will recognize yourself in the photo. We now live in Ft Lauderdale, Fl.

Three years ago dicovered Modica. Now we live in St. petersburg fl. and Modica. We travel there 3 times a year and spend about 5-6 months there.

Sicily is a Italian Gem and Modica the Diamond. Can't tell you all the stories and fun times we have. Always lots of friends visiting and so much to see.

Our house is located in Centro Storica so litterally everything is a 2 minute walk.

Probably what I love the most is the markets. The antique market in Catania every sunday is incredible.

The vegetable market in Ragusa on Weds. will make you never want to buy another in the states again.

If you've never been there visit Modica , the Chocolate capital of Sicily.

ciao,
jo eg.
