I think that most politicans of every party is self interest only. We have a republic that is suppossed to elect leaders democraticly, but it never works out that way.

The Palestinean people held democratic elections...they voted for the Hamas political party because the alternative (Fatah) was full of corruption. Hamas has been successful IN SPITE of economic sanctions imposed by the U.S.(through the U.N.)....the Palestinean people want liberation from their 60 years of subjugation and humiliation.

HAMAS successful? Democatic? Since when did an election get "verified" at gunpoint? Hamas refused to participate in a coalition government, demanded control and when they didn't get it they kicked Fatah out at gunpoint. Palestinian people have been robbed for 60 years. Old-timers are admitting they should have taken the deal offered in 1948. But their Arab "brothers" fed them lies to keep them fighting instead of building. It's great to see that Bush wasted more of our money going on this five day Middle East trip. By the way, can we stop giving money to Israel? It's a religious state and we should not be giving them handouts. If you want to give money to Israel, go for it. Stop giving them US taxpayer money.

It's a vicious cycle that isn't going to end because everyone wants their own piece of the very small pie and by the time it gets to the consumer, it is so high that soon none of us will be able to afford it. The only way to bring prices down is to use more fuel effecient cars and use less gas.

Bush thinks the Saudis are his friends. They aren't and never have been. They are going to pursue their interests and not do us any "favors."
Everyone knows Bush is a short-timer. No one abroad is going to do a thing for him that isn't in their self-interest.
Selling the Saudis weapons is like throwing gasoline on a fire. Many of the terrorists Bush won't talk to get their money and weapons from the Saudis. The weapons deal should be shelved regardless of the price of gas.
Of course, we should be serious about alternative fuel. It's worthy of a man on the moon or Manhattan project. But the only big idea Bush had was going to Mars. I'm all for sending him there, the soon the better. Well stated
