Missions were bombed, soldiers and sailors were killed, embassies were attacked under previous Republican administrations or weren't you aware of that?
It must not count that Republican administrations helped get us into the predicament that we're in today.
St. Ronald cut and run us right out of Beirut in the 80's immediately after our embassy was bombed. Cheney,Rumsfeld and Bush Sr went hand in hand with the Afghans.( You do remember Bin Ladin don't you?) Bush is still in bed with the Saudis - THE 9/11 attackers.
Our Middle East policy has been a disaster since the 50's and there is PLENTY of blame to go around.
I lost a relative in the second Trade Center attacks and certainly don't think that George Bush has made us any safer or smarter, he has only exasperated the situation - and is responsible for an untold number of innocents killed and over 4000 of our soldiers slaughtered.
I am disgusted with your attitude, your smugness and your lack of culpability.

We are enjoying safety and security. Not only due to our military presence in the middle east, but also due to the resurrection of our military intelligence units, and the unifying of our respective federal law enforcement departments. We are successfully repelling a highly motivated terrorist enemy. I'm grateful for the service and sacrifice of our military. I wish it weren't necessary for them to be there, but I believe it to be the only way to deter an enemy that will not compromise. It's unfortunate, but it is what it is.

Actually, our holdings overseas (troops) are attacked almost daily in Iraq.
