And you missed my point. The USA is not a one-trick pony. And Iran is a paper tiger. We have no concern with Arabs, just with jihadists of whatever stripe.
I am an American, and our worst enemy is not Iran, but our ever-growing National debt. If we continue on this same path, we won't have any money left to sustain our military might. With Obama back in our White House, he will cut our military budget by more than half.

I agree with you. I also agree with Obama's cutting our military, by about a third.

OH, Ollie, you are so funny!

"An Egyptian jihad leader, with self-professed links to the Taliban, called for the “destruction of the Sphinx and the Giza Pyramids in Egypt,” drawing ties between the Egyptian relics and Buddha statues, local media reported this week.

“All Muslims are charged with applying the teachings of Islam to remove such idols, as we did in Afghanistan when we destroyed the Buddha statues,” he said on Saturday during a television interview on an Egyptian private channel, widely watched by Egyptian and Arab audiences.

"The United States will overtake Saudi Arabia and Russia as the world's top oil producer by 2017, the West's energy agency said on Monday, predicting Washington will come very close to achieving a previously unthinkable energy self-sufficiency.

The forecasts by the International Energy Agency (IEA), which advises large industrialized nations on energy policy, were in sharp contrast to previous IEA reports, which saw Saudi Arabia remaining the top producer until 2035.

"Energy developments in the United States are profound and their effect will be felt well beyond North America - and the energy sector," the IEA said in its annual long-term report, giving one of the most optimistic forecasts for U.S. energy production growth to date. "

This is just the start. Obama is not a Military friendly President, and there will be devastating cuts during the next 4 years. Iran has just begun their largest air defense drill ever, and their Rev guards and navy has been equipped with thousands upon thousands of high tech anti-ship cruise missiles. As I have said it before, I believe our navy is making a huge mistake by stationing so many of our war ships and sailors inside the Persian Gulf.

Yes, it is. Time to pay the piper. We do not need the huge military we now have, nor can we afford it. It is time for other Western countries to do their fair share or suffer the consequences.

Iranians, Russians & Cinease love you for that!
Without the United States naval power, Iranians would easily fill that vacuum, and more. The rest of the Europeans don't have the proper juice to take the place of the American might. Not even close!
On the other hand, I do understand your point. We are completely broke, and can not continue on the same path. That simple!

Too subtle for you? The point is, the more Iran militarizes the straits the more other countries will work around them, laying pipelines, railways, special ports and offshore facilities, and developing alternative sources of oil elsewhere. Iran just doesn't get it any more than you do. DUH.
