Why should not a light skinned girl represent Haiti? Is not she Haitian too? Beauty pageants are about "beauty", not representation. Now, don't get it twisted, I have seen some stunningly beautiful dark skinned Haitians and non-Haitians alike and beauty comes in all colors, shapes and sizes. Stop the nonsense.

I want a northern revolution, you know, kinda like picking-up where we left of. the ti neg and ti neg rouge persona of port-au-prince is what killed us. you cats ought to know a thing or two about pride.

is that so! the two countries are too separated socially to become one. have anyone heard of dominican racial and national identity; all i know is that they don't respect us or themselves. before we can move forward, we have to heal and make amends. also, don't think my northern pride is anti-mulato. i truly belief that we are one. the better of them, had and continue to make great strides for the country. it's hard to think that i would be a compatriot with non- Toussaint, Dessalines, Henri, or Petion blood.

for all the racists in haiti and all the caribbean we are mixed race.even the dark skin people are not 100% african...to be west indian is not a race but a idendity that s why we are creole.

the dominicans think because they are lighter skin they are different of the haitians but you are same.u have the same religion<christiannity and voodoo> and ur on the same island hispagniola.the dominicans are not from spain.white ppl in us call u black too..ur not white ...anyway i prefer the haitians because they are more educated than u.i m not from haiti but i speak creole like them.i like haitians

Congratulations, you broke down "shouldn't" and "isn't". Doesn't make you sound smart, just makes you sound like even more of an illiterate idiot. Go ahead, congratulate me on picking out your stupidity. Just wanted to share this...just couldn't stop thinking about the sentence when I saw it in the search results for hot Miss Universe gals.

Another confused soul..

In Haiti there are many who are 100% African ,mainly due to their history which was different than all the other colonies.

In Haiti voodoo is a national OFFICIAL religion ,in DR it is an unfortunate Haitian import.

Being on the same island is irrelevant ,2 different countries languages ,racial mixtures and histories say so..

Some Dominicans are Spanish ,some Dominicans are Mainly African ,some are even mainly native but the majority is a mix of these 3 groups.

Funny that you think that a people who are mainly illiterate are more educated and then you proceed to show the reason for your bias by confirming that you speak gibberish (creole) also ..

Someone has to be ,blind, stupid or completely biased not to see that Haiti's people are its biggest problem and the opinion of idiots won't change that!
