The law in Mexico has fallen. The cartels are stronger more than the Mexico law will ever be.

this is puzzeling. why would anyone kidnap and kill these people. they have little money, few skills and dirt poor, they probably had to borrow money just to pay for the bus tickets. wow who knows. maybe they are trying to enslave them, and the dead ones didn't cooperate.

Here is a clue. The cartels control the trafficking, all the smuggling routes into the USA. The cartels control where and now the illegals enter the USA. To be smuggled into the USA requires a deal made with these criminal organizations.

If they borrowed money for the tickets, guess who they borrowed that money from. They have few skills but they can be used to run drugs over the border and all over the USA. But also they can be used in many ways by the cartel, they can be look outs. They can be street dealers. They can steal cars. The death toll is quite high and replacements are needed, but also any of the cartels can bring in people from the south and Central America to be used in their war for control.

But when the cartels are fighting over the control of the trafficking and smuggling routes into and throughout the USA, they will attack the new recruits. Some of these people might be naive, maybe thought they could borrow money and pay the cartel to get into the USA and then end the relationship.

And keep in mind that the cartels don't really kill just for the fun of killing, they have their reasons. Not good reasons of course but the greed with these cartels is very immense. The money to be made from controlling the border and the smuggling distribution routes is worth the loss in lives.

Life is cheap but the border entry points are not.
