Dear Nina,
Many thanks for the hot news. I hope you manage to leave the island luckily.
We have an organized holiday for the second half of March to Guadeloupe. I am worrying if it will be safe to travel otherwise we will lose a lot of money.
Thus, I would be pleased to receive any news either from travellers or inhabitants on the development of the current situation.
Many thanks!

Hi Nina! I just canceled my trip to Guadeloupe because of the situation there. I am so sorry to do it but had no choice really. Hope you got out safely from there.

My parents are there right now and currently stuck att Langley Travels hotel on Basse-Terre. They are pretty relaxed and claim there are worse places to be stranded at. Tourists have been asked not to leave the hotel area and they are apparently out of butter. We are suposed to go next week but it seems grim right now.

Hello
Our family is planning to go on a two week holiday on guadeloupe and are planning to stay at Fort Royal with langley. We have three kids, one have epilipsi which results in that we might need to go to a hospital. Now I have read about new blockades wich worries us. Is someone able to give an advice? Is it okej to go there and how bad is it? Could it be manageable to go with an ambulance if needed, i mean are the streets open and not blocked. How bad is it, please....give a comment or something.

Was at Guadeloupe Feb 7 to Feb 18. Had to leave our rental house three days early due to strike. Made several attempts to get a flight anywhere away from Guadeloupe. Finally on Air Canada Feb 18.
My personal opinion is that although strikers received about E 270 more per month, wealthy families (who control all major shops, etc. in a monopoly) will raise prices which will put workers in the hole again. THERE ARE NO CONTROLS ON THE PRICES OF IMPORTED GOODS. I do NOT trust the calm at the moment and fear new riots could happen at ANY time. Furthermore, I think all tourists should do whatever possible to AVOID travel there for at least six months to be sure calm prevails. And because of the enormous inconvenience we suffered, I have decided we will NOT make any early deposit on ANY booking we may make in the future.

Daily Horoscope for December 18

Cancer

You'll be happiest when you're with people who make you feel loved and cherished. You'll bend over backwards to keep them sweet, and will concede arguments and disputes for the sake of peace. Try not to make it peace at any price because that could be setting up problems with people who will then try to take advantage of your good nature. Co-operation is one thing, being a doormat is quite different.
