Recommendation 547 (1969) of the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe (30 January 1969)

In this text, adopted on 30 January 1969, the Consultative Assembly, bearing in mind that the present Greek regime is in serious breach of the conditions for membership of the Council of Europe set out in Article 3 of the Statute, declares that Greece should consider its withdrawal in accordance with Article 7 and recommends that the Committee of Ministers take the appropriate measures laid down in Article 8 of the Statute.

Following the findings of the European Commission of Human Rights, Greece was obliged to withdraw from the Council of Europe.

On may 6 1969, Greece government withdraw from the European Council under Article 7 of the Statute

The UN-lead name talks between the two countries have so far been fruitless. UN mediator Natthew Nimetz has set a date of a further round of talks for 16 November.

NATO said that FYRMacedonia could enter the Alliance as soon as it settles the name spat. The EU stresses that this is a bilateral dispute that has to be settled between the two countries, the sooner, the better.

Last year FYRMacedonia brought the case to the Hague based International Court of Justice. But legal experts say that even if Skopje eventually wins the case, victory will offer only moral satisfaction since the Court has no legal mechanisms to enforce its ruling.

How many veto can you count?

How long you think can Yunanistan avoid to respect the laws and obligations in EU before it'll be baned again?

The EU opened its first investigation into Greece’s deficit in 2004 after a revision of data revealed that, contrary to previous indications, the deficit had exceeded the EU ceiling every year since the country adopted the euro.

The gap reached a euro-area record 7.5 percent that year, swollen by costs for hosting the Olympic Games in Athens.

Greece joined the European Union the 1/1/1981.
For the first and only time.

So Greece was banned from EU 12 years BEFORE she

The only ban that Greece will be responsible for will be the one that keeps you out of the EU...
You still don't understand what the EU is, do you? Why do you want to join an organization that is too hard for you to understand? Why do you not understand your obligations to the process, but instead worry about others and their situation?

You can shake and bake how long you want, but the facts are there.

Yunanistan was baned from Council of Europe because it's military Junta regime and not respecting of democratic principles.

Did you forget the students killed at Polytechnic?

Europe in 1969 baned Greece from Council of Europe and all it's institutions since "it lacked a parliament and no longer accepted the rule of law or alowed the enjoyment by all persons within Greece of human rights and fundamental freedoms."

Greek dictatorship was suspended from all Europe institutions.

Yo, Rhodesian!

Brussels, November 12 (MIA)- The European Parliament adopted Thursday a resolution recommending the annulment of visas for Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro as of December 19, instead of the European Commission proposed date of January 1, 2010.

In the debate that began late Wednesday MEPs supported the visa-free regime for the three countries, while Euro-Commissioner Jacques Barrot hailed the decision as "historic".

Congratulations !
I'm very glad on your behalf, although I believe that for HUMANITARIAN reasons only Greece should veto the visa annulment for at least 5 more years.
Only for Fyrom.
What will happen to all those people who will travel in Europe and suddently will realize that
where they have been living before whas a shithole?
There is a great risk that they 'll commit suicide
or they won't return back anymore !Mothers will
abandon their children,husbants their wifes.
Jacques Barrot doesn't care but I do.Especially for
you Philip.Your life is in danger !

Rhodus...very good post. The Visa liberalization is actually seen as a threat to FYROM.

Macedonia (FYROM) is likely to lose 3-5% of its population over the next 5 years (assuming that Europe undergoes a mild economic recovery starting in 2012). Most of these are expected to take advantage of the visa liberalization regime and leave Macedonia (FYROM) for good (emigrate). Another 3-5% are likely to try to find temporary jobs as Gastarbeiter. Consequently, Macedonia (FYROM) will plunge into negative population growth.

"Macedonia (FYROM) invests an average of $50,000 of its painfully scarce resources in every university graduate, only to witness tens of thousands of them emigrate to richer places. Macedonia (FYROM) ends up subsidizing the rich countries by exporting to them its human capital, the prospective members of its dwindling elites, and the taxes they would have paid had they stayed put. The formation of its middle class is often irreversibly hindered by an all-pervasive brain drain. The kleptocracies that run Macedonia may actually welcome the brain drain as it also drains the country of potential political adversaries."

This helps to identify the Bulgar-Monkeys identity of where there roots lie, by referring to Greece as Yunanistan, they cleary admit their Turko-Asiatic roots.

The irridentist behaviour continues - The only response is another veto in December.

http://www.balkaninsight.com/en/main/news/236...

“In December we shall see if Greece really wishes to resolve the matter, as setting another blockade will mean exactly the opposite,” Nikola Gruevski said. He added that Greece’s decision to veto Macedonia's entry into NATO last year and its subsequent threats are not a constructive approach for resolving the 18-year name dispute.

If we read between the lines, Gruevski is saying that FYRM will increase the irridentist activity if Greece uses a veto in December - and that the irridentist activity is due to Greece's unwillingness to surrender to blackmail and propoganda... If he hasn't figured it out yet (and I'm sure that he has), he just dared Greece to use another veto in December, with the insinuation that he has no reason/desire/willingness to work towards a solution.

What needs to be asked is why is Gruevski taking a hardline stance and practically asking Greece to use a veto, at this crucial time for his nation (starting EU negotiations for entry)? Perhaps EU entry isn't a goal for his government? Or is he looking to protect himself from criticism when the negotiations that are happening in the backrooms finally reveal a compromise name that will upset a certain portion of the population - can't be re-elected if the diaspora and the 40 - 60yr old nationalists aren't happy, right Nicola? Just keep trying to play the two sides off of each other, and ignore the consequences of those actions...

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Scorpio

A loved one is extremely upset today, and you'll soon know all about it. Things are out of proportion, so a minor hitch becomes a huge drama that means you've got to drop everything in order to calm them down. Hey ho. At least it won't last long. If you're doing some last-minute Christmas shopping, you won't have as much patience as usual and nor will anyone else.
