Historic deal agreed on Gibraltar

The landmark agreements follow 18 months of three-way talks Ministers from Britain, Spain and Gibraltar have signed a series of agreements aimed at improving living conditions for the people of Gibraltar.

As a Spaniard what I'm about to say is going to surprise you, but here it goes anyway: I think Gibraltar should be what Gibraltarians want it to be, that simple. I think that the Spanish authorities, should help Gibraltarians as well as nearby Spaniards coming into agreements with both UK an Gibraltar over things that would make life easier for everyone:

a) Accept the right to Autodetermination
b) Lose border controls (the queues sometimes are unbearable and stupid)
c) As a unique spot in Europe we could make things like Spanish and the Euro official in Gibraltar as well as English and Sterling. Grant Gibraltarians both UK and the right to have also the Spanish citizenship (again I am not saying to return it to Spain).

I support Gibraltarians and their right over their homeland. I think they should have the right (and history owes it to them) to be part of both worlds while ruling over their own destiny. Of course I see it being a Colony within Europe as an anachronism, but that is just a label that can easily be changed into whatever is suitable for all sides (Part of Mainland UK? I think that is not important).

I know other Spaniards will be completely against it, but I'd rather have a special Gibraltar than just an ordinary spanish town.
