The Ewes are people who are well educated,humble,hard-working,k ind-hearted,sympathetic,loving ,moderately-peace loving people,hospitable,friendly,str aight to the point. They don't tolorate nonesence.They are sometimes misunderstood by others on certain issues.They don't like to be cheated or looked mean upon by other tribes.They are sometimes misjudged.On the whole the Ewes are a tribe to deal with and be at peace.

I, as an African American in this life, know of the fear fellow Ghanaians have for the Ewes firsthand. Same fear is shown for the Nzima Tribe as well in ghana.
I remember a few years ago, I was living in Kasoa, Central Region, Ghana. I needed a small truck full of things moved from a house in Keta, Volta Region, down to Kasoa. The Fanti and others in the area, the did such moving business, were too affraid to go into the Volta Region. For fear the Ewes would kill and eat them or use their body parts/organs to make juju medicine. So I went up to Keta, hired an Ewe to drive my things down with me. Now if you know Africa, even that came with a twist. Once the Ewe driver got me within 1/4th mile of my residence, he had never seen, he wanted to put my things out at a nearby taxi park. Translated: He wanted more money than we initially agreed to. Well I know Africa and mama's peoples with great understanding. So I told the truck owner, if he wished to put my things down in the Kosoa taxi park, no problem. I told him I would get 3 or 4 taxi to bring my wife's things the rest of the way, just up the road. Telling him it would cost me far less than the tip I was going to give him for a job well done.
Well, you know the rest of the story, he left my place a very happy man, as was my wife.
I am Ewe everytime I come into this dimension, no matter where.

True, true o, during boarding school years all the other groups would mix with each other, but Ewes won't do so. Even as young people drawn from all over Ghana and thrown together far away from home, the Ewes would always keep to their own kind. They were too secretive, and purposely cultivated the aura that they had juju even when they had none! If they had some exams tips they shared only with themselves. An Ashanti will share with Frafra or Fanti or Ga if they were friends. Ewe will share only with Ewe. Now their tactics is causing hatred among Ghanaians and tribes against tribes. This too will never succeed.

The Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Police Service in the Volta Region and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) are talking to the chiefs and opinion leaders in the Nkwanta District over a bad cultural practice where a bride-to-be is forced to sleep with her brother before being allowed to go to her husband.

The practice, known as ‘Sister-in-bed’ in the community, is one of the negative traditional practices the unit is tackling in the Nkwanta District. Others are widowhood rites by which pepper is poured in the eyes of the woman whose husband is dead and female genital mutilation.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Rita Narh of the Volta Region DOVVSU, said apart from the practice being backward in modern terms it is also a source of HIV/AIDS infection.

According to her, the brothers who sleep with these girls, most of whom are virgins, have wives and children and could also be an avenue for conflicts between the brother-in laws especially in situations where pregnancies and child birth occur.

The practice, she said is very common in the villages of the district and parts of Togo,

According to her the unit had had a number of cases reported to it but did not intend making arrests as this would drive people underground.

Instead, it was rather using educational campaigns such as public fora to highlight the negative impact of the socio-cultural practices on women who are always at the receiving end.

ASP Rita Narh said the unit has also embarked on radio programmes in the local dialects, that is Ewe and Twi on Domestic Violence and Gender Based Violence including child labour and trafficking which is prevalent in the Northern part of the Volta Region to educate the people.

I went to school with them in Norway and even the Norwegians were able to tell the kinna people they were.The only time they will be nice to you is when they need something from you.
To me, i think it's plain ignorance especially the ones who came straight from the volta region.
those who were born or grew up in the cities like Accra and kumasi are little bit smart but like they say "you can take the boy out from the village/country but you can never take the village/country out from the boy".
on the other side of the coin, i dont blame them for their behaviour cuz, most of the other tribes especially the akans kinna look down on them.
