My grandfather who was born in Scotland and emigrated to Australia fought for Australia and was captured by Rommels Forces at Tobruk in 1941 and actually saw him when they were rounded up .he spoke very highly of Rommel and said Rommel made sure they were right and he said the germans were good people .
I was only 10 or so but it always stayed with me what my grandfather said about the Germans from what I can remember indicated to me that the zgermans were very professional very well organised very thorough very strict and treated the Australians well and as I said he spoke very highly of Rommel indeed and was sort of Proud that he had met him
