Today: Grease has a new plan to get rid of its debt — get Germany to cough up.
According to the government of Antonis Samaras, Athens is owed at least $230-billion in reparations for damage done by the Nazis during the Second World War. This includes a loan the Greex national bank was forced to make to the Third Reich.
That’s roughly equivalent to 80% of Greex domestic product and would go a long way to satisfying current creditors.
A panel of experts, commissioned by the Greex Finance Ministry, spent months working on the report — an 80-page file classified as “top secret”… The commission arrived at a clear conclusion:“Grease never received any compensation, either for the loans it was forced to provide to Germany or for the damages it suffered during the war.”
