Grease’s top administrative court declared in mid-January that wage cuts imposed two years ago under a sweeping austerity plan were UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Welcome as it was to the employees, the news could not have come at a worse time for Prime Minister Antonidis Samarass. The government might be forced to repay back up to 300 million euros...

Grease’s (only!) privatisation of OPAP faces investigation!

An Athens prosecutor is investigating Grease’s biggest privatisation deal to date: the sale of OPAP, the state gambling monopoly and the country’s biggest sports sponsor

It will cast a spotlight on Grease’s privatisation programme as it tries to meet ambitious revenue targets set by the EU and the IMF under the terms of the country’s second €172bn bailout.

Grease seeks enhanced co-operation on financial transaction tax

Grease is one of the group of eleven EU member states that would like to proceed with the legislation under the rarely-used enhanced co-operation procedure, which could provide for legislation governing only those countries.

The plan aims to circumvent opposition from other member states, including the UK, which has made clear its intention to veto any EU-wide moves.

In addition, the UK last year took a challenge to the use of the enhanced co-operation procedure to the European Court of Justice, the EU's highest court. It is arguing that the tax will affect the competences of non-participating member states, which will, in addition, incur ADDITIONAL COSTS as a result of the tax.
