This is a complicated topic. I think that everyone would agree that there are some elements in Islamic culture which make it difficult to integrate and other elements that seem to condone violence. However, what is not clear is how representative the violent and intolerant parts of the entire faith are and also whether it is possible to change. Also, looking back at history, I'm not so sure that Catholic people would be qualified to look down on a religion because of it's use of violence. How do you think Catholicism became the dominiant religion throughout Europe and North America? Not by peaceful means, certainly.......

All I say is that it is too difficult for a person unfamiliar with a religion to criticize it. Whether this religion is Christianity, Islam, Judaism does not matter. If you don't know it, how can you demonize thousands of followers.... many of whom would never dream of committing atrocities against their fellow human beings. The problem is that so many Germans see their landscape changing dramatically and rapidly. It is the perception that it is an intentional encroachment that creates a nationalistic desire to limit immigration (especially with people of Arabic origins). I see the points of both sides very clearly. Does anyone have a respectful solution-- keeping in mind that there are already many Turks in Germany?
