I stumbled on this forum by accident, sure rattles old memories. I was in the 699th Maint Co as a welder in the fabrication shop from 1976 - 1979. My roommates were Pearl and Carol hope their all doing well. After three decades I still enjoyed memory lane, even the PT runs every morning.
Did you do your PT runs by the Kinzig and all those garden houses by Pioneer Kaserne. I used to ride my bike to work in Old Argonner (lived downtown) and watch everybody run past me in formation and sometimes do pull ups on the sidewalk. Brings back many fond memories.

I was stationed at Fliegerhorst kasern from 90 to 93 in 7/227 TFV. I remember Hienz and Elka from the Electric Cowboy VERY WELL I use to DJ there almost my whole tour. Except when I went to the gulf war for 7 months. I also use to DJ tuesday nights at the "Boat" that rough neck hard rock bar right outside Pioneer kasern gate. Loved wearing a cowboy hat in that place. lol I knew Gail the Americian bartender, real good friend.
I remember the Wolfganf PX complex, The Rod &Gun (hook &bullet)club and the mud boggs they had lol. Frankforts Sachsenhausen and the club at Rhein Main and lots of great German friends.
I was good friends with a # of the ERCA folks from K-town. Ran into a a few folks in the US from there like 7 years later. Talk about a blast from the past. Would love to go back for a visit, but I am sure the changes are saddening. I'll keep the great memories I have.

I lived in Hanau from 88-91. I worked at aafess in layaway pick up. I lived in sportsfield housing area. I used to go to the pioneer club and the boat. I wanted to know if anyone new if the boat was still around and if they knew about any pictures of it. Check out the 3rd Armored Division FB page. Just uploaded pic from The Boat.
Did you know Bruce Jenkins, he was a good friend of mine from Hanau and he worked in the layaway as well.

I was stationed with the 699th Maintenance Company, 85th Maintenance Battalion from 78-79 as the Supply Platoon Leader. The Company, Battalion Headquarters and enlisted barrecks were in the same building on Pioneer Kaserne but I've forgotten the name of the Kasern where my platoon actually worked. I do remember it was a left turn out of Pioneer and not that far down the street. We were in a block and a half long building that had the ASL Warehouse, NSL Warehouse, Float section and platoon offices. Also in this building was the snack bar. Our computer squad worked out of two trailers in front of the building.
Also on the same Kaserne was a small Officers Club and the 699th Maintenance Platoon. I worked with CW3 Steve Arthur, SFC Hicks and SFC Smothers. There was one more SFC but 32 years later I can't remember his name. I lived on the economy not far from the Kaserne that housed one of the combat units in Hanau, a PX and the main chapel where I attended Lutheran services on Sunday.
The name of the work kaserne was Wolfgang Kaserne. I worked in the Recovery Section from 76-79. Fun times there.

I was at Pioneer from 1960 to 1963. 33rd Ord. Co.(C&C). The company gyroed to the States (on paper) during my tour. All but two of us got reassigned. We were too short. By the time we rotated, Larry Daughtery and I were the only ones left.

Our shop was at Quartermaster Kaserne. Its probably not there anymore either.

We spent a lot of time on pass in Steinheim at Nicos and the Main Terrace. I sure would like another one of those flip top beers.

Tell me, why oh why, didn't the US nuke Germany when it still had the chance? Why did you put their bases there and actually be fooled into thinking that Germans are your friends? Didn't you realize that Germans are back-stabbing, egoistical hypocrites?

Wow I don't know if I'm happy or sad right now was in pioneer housing from 88-92 favorite teacher was Ms Hartley and yes the candy man would stuff the white paper bags with candy for a dollar and the ice ream man would always stop by bldg 343 and give you a free supercone for your birthday I remember when the YMCA opened up right before desert shield and we would play pool and tecmo bowl for the NES :)

I think we were there from 1987-1991. I was little but I have many memories of this place! We lived on Pioneer Kaserne. As a kid my memories are the Ice cream man with REAL good blue icecream! The candyman in the little white station wagon would fill an entire bag up for $1..those lil green frog gummies, coke gummies, the sour strips. I remember me and my dad walking to the KFC down the street. The playgrounds with the merry go rounds and I ould go home everyday with splinters all over my hands from the wood playgrounds. I remember the hills full of mushrooms and the porkypines. The bike rides through the forest. I went to Sportsfield Elementary. My favorite teacher ever was ms. macintyre! I wish I could go back to those days. I loved it! OH! and remember the zoo, the skating rink the lake, the community pool! lol so much

I hated to see that the Hamburger Station closed a while back when I was home. I loved getting the Hawian Burger.
