Abkhazia says it downed two Georgian surveillance drones

Georgia's breakaway republic of Abkhazia shot down over its territory on Sunday two Georgian surveillance drones, an Abkhaz presidential envoy told RIA Novosti.

"The planes were flying at an altitude of 7,000 meters [23,000 feet] and were downed by our air defense system," Ruslan Kishmariya said.

Abkhazia's defense minister, Merab Kishmariya, confirmed that two planes had been shot down. He previously said that only one drone had been downed.

Russia really does not need those pieces of land which are so small that they cant even be seen on the map. Russia is big enough and resourcefull enough not to need them because they are completely worthless. especially south ossetia and especially when it comes to risking thousands of lives for nothing.

The thing is that they want to take them simply because they are Georgian, Why ? because they dont want a strong state to exist where Georgia is, nomatter wether it will be pro-russian or not. It is because Georgia blocks Russias access to the Middle East and also helps to isolate their devoted and beloved ally Armenia.

They do it not because those separatist regions have any significance, but because it will help them to make the entire state weaker on the long run or at least punish for its aspirations for NATO etc. They want to make Georgia what it was in 1990s, a failed state: no normal army, no electricity, no businessses, not hotels, foreigners afraid to come, criminals governing the country and so on.

When the fortress is too strong to take from the outside, you need it to be opened from the inside, and noone and nothing can do it better than a bad situation inside the country. Russian tactics remain unchanged since the 1700s. Dont they suspect that someone might have guessed what they might be planning this time after all these years? funny. people know what Russia wants and they are hysterical. Then ask questions like "why do they need to join NATO" ?

Georgian unpiloted plane has been hit down by Russian anti aircraft forces.

NATO-Standard Radar & On-Board Video Confirm Details of Confrontation; Attack Is Latest Russian Step in "Creeping Annexation" of Abkhazia

On the morning of April 20, 2008, a Russian MIG 29 fighter aircraft blasted a Georgian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from Georgian airspace. The unarmed Georgian UAV was conducting routine surveillance above the breakaway Georgian territory of Abkhazia. Radar tracking and video transmitted from the UAV in the moments before its destruction confirm the details of the attack.

Georgian President Saakashvili said the downing of the Georgian drone, combined with Russia's April 16 decision to establish legal links with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, constituted an "unprovoked aggression against the sovereign territory of Georgia." He said the April 16 decision amounted to "legalizing the annexation of a large part of Georgia's territory."

Those may be the intention of Kremlin... But what do Russian people get out of this? Except war..

This adds is another "non-russian" voting block adding to Russia's demographic issues..

Putin a psychopath who will bring grief to Russians through his lying and his militarism --so necessary to make up for some personal inferiority complex.

Russian despots have had a real knack for bringing tragedy to Russians--and Putin is on the same path.

If Russia wants war, it will be delivered.

President Putin has has brought Russia from a have not country to a stable and wealthy country, which one cannot say for Ukraine, Georgia or any other pissant ex-Soviet state.
The Russian pleople are now seeing an improvement in their lives and this trend will continue.

Krishnamurty, why are u concerned by the cheap Georgian drons w/o pilots when in ur Ukria kids have to prostitite in Russia and Turkey to survive?

Flourishing of child prostitution in Ukraine

Juan Miguel Petit, the Commission's Special Rapporteur on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography reported that the flourishing of child prostitution and trafficking of children are the great problems in Ukraine.
According to UNO press-service, 10% of victims of human trafficking are children at the age of 13- 18. The half of these children is sent in neighboring countries, especially in Russia.
