I am 5'9 and 120 pounds, so no I don't need to lose any weight....It is beyond ridiculous to expect tourist to speak your language.... especially given the fact that English is a universal language!

As for reading books... what a joke! I have no interest to learn about French customs or learn the language. When I was in Denmark, I was able to have fun without knowing a single Danish word! I also had a good time in Venezuela though my Spanish sucks!....

I'm just visiting with two friends and our only plan is to have a good time with as many different ethnic French men as offered!

a la Natalee Holloway or Amanda Knox - being pretty and culturally ignorant did them so much good.

Oh and don't forget to look up DSK and ask him about arranging one of his parties in Paris for you where you can meet lots of rich men - see if he can get you a tall Frenchmen to order

and don't worry about reading books you might hurt yourself --

Why are you so upset Meredi? Am I not allowed to ask a question and share my opinion...I don't have an interest in learning about my own country why would I care to learn about another?

Not everyone is impressed with intellect, some of us care about others things like having fun and looking good! For a liberal you sure are not that tolerant :(

I apologize for lacking that gypsy spirit - it just seems to me that a shallow life - is wasteful - to not be curious or want to learn but to just party and look good. That attitude is very foreign to me.

I think the reason I care is that like it or not when Americans go abroad we are ambassadors and others do judge the rest of us by what some controversial people do.

But also for your sake I hope you are careful and at least know the difference between guys having fun and guys who may do you harm.

You seem happy in your present state - My guess is that is what Amanda Knox was like happy and strong willed until she got into a situation where someone in power wished her ill and her conduct abroad was used to convict her of a crime she didn't commit.

In Amanda's case the father said he wished one thing and that is that he worried about his daughter and what she should do if hurt or ill abroad but he didn't think about what she should do if there is any kind of legal/criminal trouble.

Maybe, if you already haven't done so you should have info about where your nearest American consulate/embassy is. You know just in case there is trouble and somehow you or a friend gets drawn into it.

Good luck - I will say no more.

Alexandre - your attitude about this is what I am talking about - Amanda was having fun in her young inexperienced way she thought experimenting with different men was something she was free to do in Italy and she thought her British and Italian room mates were out of line for finding her conduct distasteful. When her room mate was murdered the media blasted her also for her conduct and the prosecutor trumped up charges because he was a crazy man - He has a history of incompetence and biligerence.

I am sure there are plenty of young Italian women who behave just as "whore"like as Amanda did, but they are not bothered with and are excused because they are not the hated Americans.

Most Americans go abroad and follow rules, act polite and sober, but it's the ones that get into trouble that grab the headlines and form the attitude that American women are sluts and the men are boorish.

It took Amanda 4 years in an Italian prison to pay for this attitude.

I don't think she "is" a whore now I think she acted as one for a time because she was stupid back then.

Dear Sandy, you must know that many white ethnic French don't look as pale as Germans or Scandinavian. Many white Frenchmen have olive skin with black hair and black/brown eyes, especially those from Southern France. The overall majority of white French people are brunettes with hazel eyes, surely there aren't as many blondes and tall as in Germany or USA (Because white US people are mainly descended from Germans & Scandinavians)

I wonder how you could make those foolish statements about Greeks, Spanish and Italians are not white. They are surely white people too, but only they have darker skin tone. You can see a lot of white French people look just like Italians, especially northern Italians. Not all white people are blondes and blue-eyed!

And you will be very surprised to see white French people who live in and around Rhone-Alpes (Lyon). They look a lot like Arabs even though they are not Arabs and not Muslims.

Rudy Guede, an Ivory Coast native raised in Perugia, was convicted in October 2008 of having sexually assaulted and murdered Kercher

He became a suspect in the murder two weeks after Miss Kercher's body was found, when DNA tests on a bloody fingerprint and on samples taken from the body were found to match samples which police already had on file following his earlier arrests.

When police tried to contact Guede they discovered from a friend that he had fled to Germany after the murder, where he was eventually tracked down and arrested on a train.

Confronted with the overwhelming DNA evidence which proved that he had not only been in the room after Miss Kercher was stabbed, but also that he had had sexual contact with her, he immediately admitted being in the house and "fooling around" with Miss Kercher,

The chief prosecutor in the Amanda Knox case, Giuliano Mignini, will soon be back in court, but this time he will be on the other side of Italian justice as he faces charges of "abuse of office" and "abetting" in connection with another high profile murder case.

Mignini was indicted in the summer of 2006 on charges of abusing his office in connection with the still unsolved "Monster of Florence" serial killer case - a decades old string of murders that targeted young lovers on starless summer nights in the hills of Florence. Italian investigators estimate 14 victims were killed by the same person between 1974 and 1985.

An Italian reporter and I believe an American reporter too found that the Mignini screwed up evidence so bad and had wild unsupported ideas regarding the Monster of Florence killer that the were going to write about it and indeed they did.

So Mignini - still acting as prosecutor though indicted for abuse of power had very little evidence to go on regarding Knox being a murderer and when Rudy showed up to actually match the DNA at the murder scene he came up with a wild unsupported idea to still tie in Amanda Knox and her boy friend because he had been wrong before but wouldn't admit it. That is why when the evidence was checked again by experts and reviewed by another panel of judged Knox went free after 4 years.

Mignini was/is crazy he even keeps a list of enemies.

Rudy Guede's DNA was everywhere - everywhere - even inside Kercher - Amanda's was not on the murder weapon that is why she is free and her Italian boyfriend too.

Crazy as a coot prosecuter Mignini said the three were playing a sex game on Kercher - that is all trumped up - Amanda and her boyfriend were at her boyfriend's place while - Kercher was robbed and raped by Rudy who just happens to be black.

deal with it.

But why did Amanda point her finger at the bar owner, who happened to be a black man too, and tell the police that he did it?
This part, I don't understand

She had been questioned a long time - they asked who else could have done it - she said he could have. I don't think she would have done such a thing being questioned in America by police - she shouldn't have done that - that is why they let the charge against her for falsely testify against the bar owner - however they considered her 4 year stay in prison as time served for that crime. She was not found guilty of murder and was released and allowed to come back to the US.

Mignini still wanted to retry the case. In the US and I imagine in Canada a prosecutor who had been convicted of abuse of power would be suspended from working on cases. In Italy Mignini was still able to work. That seems very wrong to me.
