The G20 or the Group of Twenty was formed in 1999 to give developing nations more of a voice in forming the global economy. The group of twenty is supposed to be made up from the twenty major economies. Why is it that Argentina, ranked number 27 in the World by Gross Domestic Product, is a member?

It is interesting to note that there are moves to replace Argentina at the G20 with either Norway or Malaya this is because Argentina does not meet the requirements to remain a member.
Those requirements are:
(i) based on the country's size and economic importance and
(ii) How it applies the rules of law in respect of trade and economics

Given Aregentina's record over the last decade, it is unsurprising that the country would fail to qualify for the G20 on the proposed criteria. In the largest sovereign debt default in history, just 2 years after acceding to the G20. Displeasure over Argentina's actions has increased natably in recent months. In March, President Obama denied Argentina trade preference because the Argentina government refused to pay a settlement to 2 US investors awarded by the World's Bank's Investment Settlement of investment disputes. Argentina is still in dispute with the US, EU, Japan and 7 other countries regarding trade and yet is still a member of the G20.

When Argentina's G20 privileges are revoked, Argentina might see the true cost of their current government.

This won't happen while the government is whingeing and moaningabout the Falkland Islands. The peasantry of Argentina will follow their government blindly while they are making 'Malvinas belong to us' noises.

As Argentina no longer qualifies for membership of the G20, to be perfectly fair, they must be replaced by a country that is governed by the principles of free trade such as Norway or Malaya.

It is plainly obvious that Argentina does not merit belonging to the G20.

If you do not qualify for the final of the 100 metres at the Olympics because you are not up to speed with the other 19 athletes, you should not be in that race. Comprende?

Comprende?.

If you don't qualify then you don't deserve to be in the race. Simple.

Sen Richard Lugar, R Ind introduced a resolution expressing to Congress that Argentina's membership in the G20 should be made dependent to International norms of economic commitment to the rule of law.

Just think…. argentina was in the top 5 economies, and now it has regressed to a 3rd world country…
It once had an economy greater than the United States…

It should be a world leader, a country to be respected and admired…

Y sigue siendo respetada y admirada.

Lastima....

The wealth of Argentina has been squandered by poor economic management. The present bunch of politicians in charge can see no further than their fat noses. Argentina does not deserve to be a member of the G20 and must be kicked out of the organisation as soon as possible.
