No, an independent Scotland would look like a separated Quebec, difference being Scotland is in a slightly better position than Quebec when it comes to actually being independent.

An independent Scotland would look like Norway, and Norway isn't doing bad.
It's out of the EU, by the way!

Got extremely tired of that constant whining coming here from Scotland! They wonna leave? Good riddance! Me personally thinks there is absolutely no need in waiting for 2014 to hold nationwide referendum on the issue, as it would better be held in 2013 already. And this time no phases, no staggering. Yes is yes, no is no. If the referendum says 'yes' then the UK immediately grants independence to Scotland, the very next day. As well as the very next day we stop giving Scotland our support. And that means we stop all support, including financial (today the Scottish membership costs us approximately 48 billion - healthcare, education, transport etc). Good riddance, I repeat. Scotland leaves the UK, the UK leaves the EU - bye bye to financial crises.

Can't do that! Scotland got Britain's submarine bases, several air bases as well, plus several army regiments, for a start. Is Britain going to walk away from that? I don't think so. It has to be negotiated.

Also, Scotland may receive 48 billions from Westminster, but Britain also collect taxes from Scotland, so that figure needs to be reviewed to assess Westminster's real contribution to Scotland.
Plus Scotland has been robbed from the North Sea oil boom that benefited Norway so well; it's Westminster that pocketed the revenue.
So, all in all, I think Britain owes money to Scotland, and not the other way round.

But I would support an independent Scotland and UK out of the EU. No doubt about that!

Meh, not really. We just keep 'em around for tradition and the anachronistic novelty. Kind'a like the UK does ;-)
There is no real loyalty to the Crown here outside of a few rah-rah sis-boom bah'ers who's heritage comes from the UK.
Better yet, go to Quebec and see just how loyal they are to the Crown LOL

...pity Scotland had not been rid of you before Thatcher squandered Scotland's (yes Scottish waters despite the act of union which we pushed into) North Sea oil revenues and imposed her poll tax on is like guinea pigs.

Not to mention this farce on office now, I doubt Scotland will vote for independence...mairs the pity , and I've aye been a Labpur man, but I could never back a Tory, a UKIP or a fib dem Clegg type.

However of we do get a shock by voting for independence...the I will even be saying guid riddance.

" your support"...for goodness sakes laddie, Scotland pays more per head than you, Scotland has more than funded its own free prescriptions , education etc, by way of at least the huge oil revenues Thatcher squandered, year after year.

Just what is your problem with Scots?

Because certain elements (small minority) in England are fearful when one of the other three nations (NI isn't a nation) of these two islands trys to assert themselves. Most of Ireland got independence in 1922, we still put up with similar crap to a degree.

The Scottish should go for independence, for the sake of their national pride if nothing else. Thats my opinion on it.

Scotland contributes more than England, dumbass.

In 2011-12, Scotland generated 9.9% of UK revenues with 8.4% of the population, while only receiving 9.3% of UK public spending back from the UK government.
