Dear friends
We are in tremendous luck of having been allowed to adopt two Ethiopian children. They are girls and their names are Samrawit and Betelehem. I have googled these names and did find only scarce information on the meaning of these names. Would somebody in this forum care to explain to me and my wife what these names mean?
Thank you very much
Stefan

I've been told by my girlfriend, who's name is Samerawit (which is the same she just spells it differently) is basically an ethiopian name of a prostitute in one of the new testement stories, perhaps one that jesus interacts with. Since I can't be bothered to even read the whole english language bible, i can't confirm this to be true in the Ge'ez version, but maybe you can look for yourself to confirm.

Samra or Christos Samra is a character in an Ethiopian biblical mythology. She was a house wife then a female Monk. She was depicted as a deal maker b/n Lucifer and God to move souls from Hell to Heaven. She was casted in an obscure part of Hell by Lucifer. When Angel Gabriel heard this he went to save her. He dropped her a rope to pull her out. As she rose she carried many souls in her wings out of hell..... Mythology. Samrawit means "like Samra"
Betelehem is the the Biblica city of Bethlehem. Check this http://www.abarim-publications.com/Meaning/Be...

Well described. Seems, you must have some connection to the church and I like the way you put it. Precisely to the point brother.

I can also add to what you just describer of the name BET being a house of abundance, hence BET-LEHAME on the other hand, Samra being the blessed one, hence when you add WITE.....the blessed one.

Here is part of the biblical mythology.

Followed by Angel Gabriel, Christos Samra travels to hell. When they reach at the mouth of the abyss of hell they see Lucifer sitting in his throne over the souls of sinners.

Christos Samra calls out to Lucifer.

He answers, "who is she calling my name? for what business"

Our blessed Mother Christos Samra answers
"by the grace of God I am here to make peace."

"You are she whom I tried to tempt into sinning. You alone wouldn't dare to come to the kingdom of Diabilos. You are helped my mortal enemy Gabriel"

With that Lucifer grabs her right hand by his left and throws her into hell.

Angel Gabriel, he who greets with fire, draws his sword, hits Lucifer and drops him.
The gates of hell open, a flood of light fills the place. They see people biting and scratching like dogs in the crowded quarters of hell. Ten thousand horrible souls pile on her like a swarm of bees.

When they all returned to their creator the saved souls jumped for joy like lambs of sheep just fed a mothers milk.

Thanks.

If you go, look for a guest house, but make sure you rent from an ethiopian. i rented from a russian just outside of Bole Airport (a block a way), and she was pure poison. Also, if you do rent a guest house, keep in mind they are often unfurnished, so bring an air matress (that's all you really need). And don't give to beggers unless you're outside a church because once you give to one, 4 more are right beside you (in Addis. I've heard its different in other cities, but I was only in Addis and Dukem)
