Mengistu Hailemariam's regime was one of the most cruel next to the Woyane. However, he has done quite a bit in elementary education and equality of tribes. He destroyed the aristocrat groups and tried to create a system where everyone can have a place in Ethiopia.

Initially, his party members started to be hunted by EPRP and this led him to a cruel blind massacre of the youth.

Siad Barre's dream to create the great Somalia, Shabia's dream to create a fee Eritrea, TPLF's dream to create a separate Tigrai , OLF's dream to create Oromia state kept the Derg regime to be involved in contentious war. Russia used to supply aid to Somalia, China was training gorilla warfare technique to Eritrean and Tograi Liberation fronts, Sudan was giving bases to the the gorilla fighters, the Arabs were giving financial and material support to the Eritreans and Tigrians libation front and Mengistu was left to struggle in the center.

Mengistu spend his whole administration trying to keep the integrity of Ethiopia and was fighting every possible evils in and around Ethiopia. It was almost a civil war in the country nobody knowing nobodies' political stance and therefore Derg had to be tight in his policies.

Had it not been for scorpions in Ethiopia like the TPLF, ELF and SLF Mengistu might have lifted up Ethiopia ten times he left off.

Labeling doesn't substitute reasoning. You never even read the text but you start labeling.

This has nothing with Lebeling!
On you side, an attempt is made to give a reason for all the brutal killings of the Mengestu government. In this era of Mengistu we have lost the best meind of our genaration / lost our country.

He is our Hitler!

As a result, we have now such a genaration and a the only government in the world history, who tries to balkaniz his own country.

If he is the least understood let him talk and answer unanswered questions before he dies like:
1. Is he or was he CIA agent and killed HIM ?
2. Why did he stay too long in power although 4 weeks before he fled a plan was presented to him about his resignation ? With a new leadership it could have been possible to mobilize the masses, in particular considering the TPLF manifesto of 1976 and loss of a province.
3. Was the derg leadership aware of the TPLF manifesto, their plan for Ethiopia and that they were against Amaras ? If so why weren' t the people of Begemdir, Gojam, Wello and Shewa warned ?
4. Did he think about what could happen to Ethiopia aftet the collapse of his regime ? Did he feel betrayed by Russia ?

Just four questions out of the possible many.
