I am from Kenya and I was with two friends from Tigray and 4 from Eritre in a camp. As tediousness took over me, i started to study the differences between both cultures and behaviour. I couldn not found grave differences but sometimes I had the feeling that the Tigrayan looked up on the Eritrens. As a matter of fact they was always jealous of the Eritrens too. They assure me they speak the same language and that the Tigrayan has more relations (be it in culture or geographically) with Eritrens than with Ethipians.
As this room is a room for Tigray and I read something about your hate on Eritrens i wanted to know how come you look up on them and you hate them at the same time?

Your statement is absolutely true, our Kenyan neighbor. Eritrea and Tigray share many values including same language. Both fought the previous Ethiopian government together. Both Eritrea and Tigray were fighting for independence from Ethiopia. Around the end of their struggle, Tigreans became convinced that they cannot survive without the rest of Ethiopia since they had no resources and no functioning industry at the time. Tigrayans succeeded in toppling the Ethiopian government from the capital city and kept their promise for Eritrea and tore Ethiopia into pieces and made her a landlocked country despite 100% of Ethiopians were against this move.

Things got ugly when the Eritrean regime invaded a barren land in Tigray. Hundreds of thousands of people died from both sides because the blood thirsty Meles Zenawi and Isayas Afeworki refused to settle it through peaceful means. They used to be best friends but now they are worst enemies of each other.

Coming back to your question, it is completely true that Tigraens consider Eritreans as refined and superior people than themselves. Let me give you examples. I have many Tigraen friends. They compliment one Tigrean friend of ours for having an Eritrean accent when he speaks Tigrigna.(I don't know the difference between the two accents because I don't speak the language.) They also like to talk about how clean Asmara is, how they adore Eritrean music, tv episodes, how Eritreans are sophisticated and etc. Despite they are at odds now, Tigraens continue to looking up and trying to be like Eritreans.

If you were a neutral; you wouldn't speak Tigrnga, would you? So, why make that comment I have quoted you on? No one would have said you know the differences, because a neutral wouldn't speak Tigringa. Your instinct told you, you are an Eritrean careful - this Agames will know you!! Did you seriously think saying that is going to give credibility - bless you!! Ironically had you not said that, I 'may' have believed you.

I know who you are, changing your name for every thread is a b!tch move btw!!

Duh.. The person who asked the question was a Kenyan so I have to make it clear that Tigrigna is not a common language and is spoken by a minority of Ethiopians unlike Swahili in Kenya.
BTW, there is nothing wrong with being Eritrean. As a matter of fact, Tigrayans want to be them. You must know that since I guess you are a Tigray.
I am not even using a name let alone changing it.

First thing the guy isn't Kenyan (you know this), trying to make his people look higher class, that's an Eritrean trait and quite sad if you ask me. So even if this guy was Kenyan, he knew Eritrean and Tigre have more in common than rest of Ethiopia (which is false btw). He maybe a Kenyan ;), but he had the knowledge of an Eritrean, so there was no need for you to say that.

If you are an Eritrean there is nothing wrong with being one, but if you are Ethiopian that's the worst insult you could ever get!! You are an Eritrean like the "Kenyan guy" because just like him you display their traits.

I have never met a Tigraway/ti in my life that wants to be Eritrean, we refer to them as "asha hamasien" - I don't think anyone would want to be ab asha. You guys keeping living in self importance while the rest of us go forward. What's your ethnic group btw? You are not Amhara that's for sure because they would never suck up to Eritreans.

I don't want to dwell on the nationality and mistaken identity of myself, you and the original poster. It is the downside of being in a forum where we can't prove anything. He claimed he was a Kenyan. I chose to believe him because getting the conversation rolling is what matters to me. He is only fooling himself if he is not a Kenyan.

You stated I am an Eritrean in one sentence and asked whether I am an Amhara in the other. That is funny by itself. I say it again there is nothing wrong with being an Eritrean. I know there are some Eritreans who think they are superior to Ethiopians and look down upon Ethiopians mainly because of the propaganda of their government. That is stupid. Should I be the same stupid and look down upon Eritreans? Two wrongs don't make it right. I believe Ethiopians and Eritreans have the same challenges such as poverty, anti democratic and dictatorial regimes. Both shabiya and woyane are not going to last forever. They will be removed by the bullet or by the ballot some day. We the people have to live side by side forever so I don't see the necessity of hatred towards one another.

You said Tigrayans don't want to be like Eritreans. That is your observation and it could be true. I said Tigrayans admire and want to be like Eritreans based my on observation. Although you are a Tigrayan living in diaspora yourself, I have more chance of interacting with Tigrayans on a daily basis and give an impartial assessment of Tigrayns attitude.

I tried to suppress my laughter when I read your statement that I was sucking up to Eritreans. You should know more than any Ethiopian about sucking up to Eritreans. We are not talking about a small sucking up. We are talking about Tigrayans shoving their nose in Eritreans' butt and telling them how good they smell down there.:D

Why do I feel I have spoken to you under a different name? You have the same commenting style, you both brown nose Eritreans, you both from AA and most importantly you both always side step the easiest question (what ethnic group you belong to?).

I cbf for a long reply atm, but I will tell you one thing - even Eritreans will tell you that Tegru will never suck up to anyone, it's not in our nature.

We don't share anything with those beggars. They are our slaves and our language is not the same. We eritreans have different accent from agames. We never tried to be like agames but most of agames are trying to be like us.

No. They prefer eritrean tigrinya but it's hard for them to speak like eritreans. Here, most of agames are trying to be eritreans. If you ask them Most of them will tell you they are eritreans. They are ashamed of their agame blood. They're right. I rather hang myself than being agame. There is eritrean restaurant in Nairobi called asmera restaurant. They manager of that restaurant forbid agames. Some of them try to deceive us but we know them by their accent and their hungry face.
