can somebody explain to me why according to Western country ,Africa is a poor place ? i mean just look at all the stuff we got .we got diamond ,oil, gold ,uranium and many others but we are still considered as poor place .look Europe or America don't even have the half of Africa's ressource and what they have , they earned it either by making trade or stealing it from Africa the economies of the fastest growing African nations experienced growth significantly above the global average rates. the top nations in 2007 include Mauritania with growth at 19.8%, Angola at 17.6%, Sudan at 9.6%, Mozambique at 7.9% and Malawi at 7.8%.even if you look at Africa economic's history since the beginning ,it was already a rich place :Ancient Egypt was one of the world's most prosperous and advanced civilizations, which began around 3150 BC with the political unification of Upper and Lower Egypt under the first pharaoh, and it developed over the next three millennia. the port of Alexandria, founded by Alexander the Great in 334 BC, was a hub for Mediterranean trade for centuries. well into the 19th century, Egypt remained one of the most developed regions in the world. prosperity in the rest of Africa existed in nation states and kingdoms such as the Ghana Empire , Nubia, Ethiopia, and Mali, which had trade routes north to the Mediterranean world and Middle East.new technologies and increasing scales of production made trading easier. for most of the first millennium AD, the Axumite Kingdom had a prosperous trade empire on the eastern horn, where the modern states of Ethiopia and Eritrea lie. Axum had a powerful navy and traded as far as the Byzantine Empire, India, and possibly China. the introduction of the camel by North African Arab conquerors in the 10th century opened trade across the Sahara for the first time. the profits from the gold and salt trades created powerful empires in the western Sahel including the Kingdom of Ghana and the Mali and Kanem-Bornu Empires, where travellers reported vast wealth. Arabs helped build a maritime trade along Africa's east coast, which prospered as Swahili traders exported ivory and slaves across the Indian Ocean and even now we are still doing good,Africa is still maintaining high economic growth despite current global economic recession
while others place having economic problems .

so how can a place who have oil ,diamond ,other many ressource and still maintaining high economic growth despite current global economic recession can be considered poor ?

The wrong information by media, and the superficial thoughts of western people make believe africa is a poor continent... The reality is different. Africa is a rich continent with poor people. They are poor because of western needs, and that easily with which african leaders are corrupt by them, and the lack of inadequate education

okay thanks but they also have corruption in Europe .just look at happened in France with the corruption scandals in the Paris region .Jacques Chirac was mayor of Paris from 1977 to 1995 and has been named in several cases of alleged corruption and abuse, some of which have already led to felony convictions.Chirac, as president of France (until 16 May 2007), enjoyed virtual immunity from prosecution for acts preceding his tenure as president, following from decision 98-408 of the Constitutional Council on 22 January 1999.Chirac refused to testify before investigating magistrate Éric Halphen, arguing that this would be incompatible with his presidential functions,Chirac's foremost critic was deputy Arnaud Montebourg of the Socialist Party, who filed a motion to bring him in front of the High Court of Justice (a procedure similar to impeachment, which has never been applied).
and did he get arrested ? no but now he is entitled to a lifetime pension and personal security protection . Let's go in Italy and see what kind of corruption they have with their prime minister Silvio Berlusconi : agreement on the division of publicity between Rai and Fininvest televisions.traffic of drug, tax bribery on the Pay-tv,Collusion into the 1992-1993 slaughters and more . and i'm sure they are more other Europeen country who are corrupted and American also but they don't anything about it or maybe a little but when it come to Africa ,they go all hard by sending soldier ,taking the president to ICC,saying that they are doing this for the sake of democracy .
so to me if Africa is corrupted is because of Western country cause i think that some African country's politic system is based on their former colony's owner (for example Chad politic is based on the France's one ). i think that all African country should let their ancient politic system and came with their owns .

so what make Europe ,America a rich continents if they also have corruption and that most of their stuff came from another place ?

Regardless exploitation of africa or other continentes, the Euro countries have developped a socio-economic system from centuries, i.e. the industrial revolutions, in medicine field, in scientific field, and democracy, welfare state ect ect, while euro countries were doing that, all african countries were very old system of "civilization", they neither knows how much was rich their own countries. The corruption in africa, happen when one or more euro countries have individuated the resource that they own countries need, and that in their countries is or almost absent, they go in africa, and decide with african president or prime minister, to use that african resource, but in a way that the african first minester and euro countries get more rich spending most probably neither the half money for the source utilized to take oil diamond ect ect and this is means also exploit african workers more than 10 hours to work paying them just 2 money.. In your question in part you answered by yourself one of the reasons why U.S.A and Euro are rich is because of the exploit from african countries and because as i said European had industrial revolution ect ect, while africans had the exploit, but also many diseases, there is no or less progress in science field, they should elaborate a their own socio-economic system different from europe, with a definition of democracy different, have no sense apply the same "rules" at this different people...

A continent may be wealthy while many of its people die poor. African countries should work together more and pull down crazy leaders. Let the people rule more!!!

Here are simple measures to consider. First of all year by year economic growth would be consistent. Those numbers above look like giant spikes that probably will be followed by huge troughs. Secondly, hows life expectancy in a country. If it's in the 30-50 range, that country is poor. 3rd would be child mortality. 4th would be manufacturing as percentage of GDP. African countries don't manufacture high tech goods for trade. There are numerous natural resources but commodities never make a country rich (except for canada, but thats a complex story i won't get into). 6th food supply. Western countries don't have famines. Maybe they could return here, but even during the great depression, people weren't dropping by the thousands from hunger. The same cannot be said of africa. Famine or near famine stalks numerous nations across the continent. I could go on but these are big things that should be considered
