The host is not 'demonisisng' anyone
That is your take.
Iran is a country that is a member of the IAEA has always been open to inspection.
Israel is a country that has nuclear weapons through theft spying and smuggling-does not open itself to any inspection and prevaricates and dissembles as to their very ownership!
Therefore not to be trusted!
When a good man like Vanunu informs the world of the Israeli dishonesty Re nuclear ownership he is gaoled and destroyed-so much for a 'democracy'!
Israel is the elephnat in the room of everything that is going wrong with our world today particularly in the mid east and Iran-
The Iran issue can and must be solved through respectful diplomacy

He is demonizing Canada , there is no doubt as he says "my own country" with disdain.

I do not appreciate anyone demonizing Canada.

New reports by the IAEA , if I have the acronym correct shows I ran is building a bomb and the UN has publicly stated they are frustrated with Iran.

Why Israel is so secretive is beyond me.
Everyone knows they have nuclear bombs and missiles.

It is like saying you don't have a mother when everyone has a mother.

Iran will never negotiate , diplomacy with them is a game for fools.

He may be constructively critical of a governemnet that is headed by a far right reliigious fundamentalist-and that is fine and that what democracvy is about.-'Demonising'?-your own opinion and that is all.
Iran is not building a bomb
Israel is the danger in the middle east not Iran.
I also hasten to add that I do not approve of the Iranian government driven by fundamentalist religious views

Stop kidding yourself.

You will say "Iran is not building a bomb" right up to the day they tell the world they have one.

Iranians , in general , have a very high level of education.

They also have been helped in nuclear power by both the French and Russians and most likely the USA at one time.

All three countries have vast experience.

If we lived closer I would take your money in a bet on this.

So what you are arguing for is to disregard FACTS! and simply go with your bias?!
Iran has not invaded anyone in 200 years apart from fighting back against an Iraqi invasion by Saddam Hussein-
Israel on the other hand spies smuggles steals from the USA -wages umpteen wars against all in the region submits to no inspection and lies about its ownership of nuclear weapons
Israel has killed American sailors on the Liberty peace activists on International waters killed tens of thousands of Palestinians in their own homeland and on and on -
Israel orchestrated the attack on Egypt and the Canal in 1956 and the war on Iraq and Libya
Syria and is now trying to involve the USA yet in another war through deception !
And you trust Israel over Iran??!

I don't trust either one.
No where have I said Israel is innocent.
No where have I said Iran is innocent.
Next time you may want to make mention of the kidnapping of our embassy staff by the Iranian's.
I am sure that was just a small mistake by you.

I do not forget the US Embassy kidnappings nor did I ever condone them.
However if you cast your mind to the days when Iran was a democracy that elected Dr Mossadeq whose crime was that he wanted to share the wealth of the country's oil revenues through British Petroleum with his people- their wealth!
The US with the Brits arranged for a coup and the implantation of the Shah- an absolute ruler in the mould of the Middle Ages sovereigns-Iranian students in the US expressing any dissent against their government were assassinated by SAVAK the Shah's terror apparatus!-These are facts!

That is why millions took to the streets to overthrow the Shah Americas' creation and they fell back to their religion as a matter of identity renewal as a people and the kidnappings resulted from that background-
Utterly unacceptable but that was the reason
Nothing happens in a vacuum

When the Shah stopped paying off the clerics trouble came under the false pretence of Islam.

This is why the Saud family pays off the clerics.

Islam is the excuse , money is the reason.

Well if you want to believe that your privilege but ofcourse that is not the reason-too simplistic --
My take on the facts of that part of the world is that people who have been bullied for generations ultimately react by hollding on to their religion because it gives them legitimacy and a sense of badly needed belonging-
It is our fault in the West that we allow our leaders to continue militarism and empire [economic- on behalf of the corporations] instead of buillding relationships with all nations that will benefit us in any event without wars.

That sounds nice.

There will always be leaders who abuse power.

The west has no monopoly on that.

Agreed but the point is that the West does not change strategy-
It is the same old same old and it always backfires on us-
Perhaps we should try diplomacy with respect and collaboration?!

Iran nuclear: UN watchdog IAEA rebukes Tehran

The UN nuclear agency has rebuked Iran for failing to stop atomic activity.

The board of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) expressed "serious concern" about Tehran's refusal to suspend uranium enrichment.

Iran insists that its nuclear programme is peaceful in purpose but the US, Israel and other states fear it is building nuclear weapons.

Thirty-one out of 35 member states voted in favour of the resolution, one voted against and three abstained.

Cuba opposed the measure and Egypt, Ecuador and Tunisia abstained. All four countries are members of the Non-Aligned Movement, of which Iran is currently the rotating president.

Another member of the movement, South Africa, had introduced an amendment on a minor change of wording that resulted in a delay of several hours.

A total of six resolutions against Iran have been passed by the UN Security Council, four with sanctions attached.

'Procrastination'

The IAEA's resolution was proposed by the United States, China, Russia, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.

This move is a display of unity by the six world powers, says the BBC's Bethany Bell, in Vienna.

It also increases the pressure on Iran at a time when Israel has stepped up hints about a possible military strike, our correspondent adds.

The US and EU have also imposed additional, unilateral sanctions that have targeted Iran's vital oil exports.

Last weekend, EU foreign ministers said they were considering additional measures.

On Thursday, in its statement to the board, the 27-nation bloc described Iran's "procrastination" as "unacceptable".

"Iran has not engaged seriously and without preconditions in talks aimed at restoring international confidence in the exclusively peaceful nature of its nuclear programme," it said.

The IAEA has held a series of high-profile meetings with Iran that began in January to agree how to carry out its investigations.

But its Director General Yukiya Amano said this week that no concrete results had been achieved and called the lack of progress "frustrating".

Very interesting
We have a member of the IAEA who has always complied with all the requirements set out by the IAEA.
This member is now being targeted because israel is lobbying for the destruction of this IAEA 's ability to harness nuclear power for its needs.
Israel the nation that has acquired nuclear weapons by deceit theft and smuggling and that is not open to any inspection as is the USA for example is now setting the agenda it thinks for Iran!
Israel that has disrespected over 90 UN resolutions-
We all note that Iran insists on being sovereign in its decisions within its own country.
What an idea!
The US is lobbying on behalf of israel to take away from Iran the right of sovereignty.
Iran is quite rightly resisting such an interference .
I suspect that the US would too!
The UN has become a bullies' hangout where the big boys can coerce the smaller kids on the block.
Everyone sees through that one!

Iran and Israel both use the same tactic.

When complaining they want a UN resolution and when the eye is on them they discredit UN interference.

Neither side is above reproach nor innocent.

Except that Iran has done nothing wrong in this case!-Zero zilch nada
Israel is the big problem here as it is consistently in the mid east and for the USA.
At some point this reality has to be faced !

It's a great day for mixing and mingling with people you always get on well with, so try not to keep yourself to yourself too much as that would be a real shame on a day when you're feeling so convivial and friendly. Speaking of friends, you'll enjoy spending time with them now, especially if you share some core values.
