If your not a returning citizen of Ecuador you will have to pay taxes on what is in your container. When you fill out your manifest for what is inside the container you have to list the item,(i.e. LG 50" LDC TV, etc.), the value of each item. Does not mater to customs if it is new or not, you will be taxed.rick d,
Sorry I misquoted the price to ship via container. It was not $1,740.00, but
$2,740.00. this included picking up my stuff and storing it at their storage facility until loaded onto a container.
As I suggested to you, get quotes from movers in the US and ask each one of them if they have an agent at the port to help you with the paperwork for customs. Ecuador loves paperwork, the more then better. Expect to wait 4 to 6 weeks to get your items. Depending on the moving company in the USA and their agents, you can chose pickup, or to your door delivery.
You will have to do research on your end for moving companies and ask who their port agent is or might be. Some don't have one and you will have to get your own. There will be additional document fees and agent fees here also. The agent I suggested speaks english.(I would suggest you go to their website and send them an email.)
