"U.S. cities are lagging in this area, Carmin believes, because climate change, for various reasons, is a more politically contentious issue in this country than elsewhere.'Climate change discussion is off the table, quite frankly, more in the U.S. than anywhere else,' Carmin says.'We are caught up over the cause of climate change, and this has led all climate-related issues to become highly politicized, undermining our potential to focus on promoting long-term urban resilience. This is not the case in many other countries where they take climate change as a given and are able to move forward with adaptation alongside their efforts to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.'"

Yes, the U.S. lags for various reasons: Koch Industries, ExxonMobil, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Arch Coal, Peabody Coal, General Motors, American Electric Power, News Corp...

Don't be such a dummy all your life, Quito and the rest are planning for climate adaptation, which is quite easy and doesn't take much effort.

Individuals don't need to plan for CC, there's no point, in the short term it won't affect anyone to any degree worth considering.
In the long term, who knows or cares, our great grandchildren will be dead by then, and nothing we do now can help.

Even among the most selfish, anyone who thinks they'll be around in twenty years has reason to support action on climate.

Guess that counts you out.

And if they don't, should they be damned?

Who knows if they'll be around in 20 years from now, my nauseous buddy?
My lifetime best friend should still be around, but he died aged 49.
