88 Puerto Rico doctors may be unlicensed

“We cannot allow doctors who obtained their license in an irregular way to practice medicine”

Federal agents swept across Puerto Rico early Thursday with arrest warrants for at least 88 doctors they say obtained their credentials through bribery or fraud, officials said. via The South Mississippi Sun Herald

I'm pretty sure there's more, but I'm glad these bundle was caught before causing the usual damage they do. The motto, "cause no harm," seems to fly over their heads day in and day out.

Mr. Sareekraut: what exactly do you mean "causing
the usual damage they do."

The hippocratic oath falls true for all physician,
no matter what school they went to, whether it is
the University of Bombay or the University of
Santo Domingo.....

The usual damage that people who get their licenses that way usually do. These people seem to be allergic to finding the right way to do things. One of those guys failed multiple times. He can't say it's the language. I know for a fact a lot medical textbooks are NOT translated when they are in English.

You should NOT be able to practice medicine if you
have not passed Parts 1,2,and 3 of the physicians
and surgeon exam.....and even if educated in a
different language, there is a FLEX ( exam given
to evaluate the knowledge of understanding the
english language) these doctors again, WERE NOT
AMERICAN TRAINED.......Puerto Rico has excellent
doctors that were trained in the USA system.....
have passed all necessary exams and are an asset
to the community.....BUT these doctors will suffer
because of this terrible media frenzy.....TOO BAD

I do not have all of the information, and I bet none of you do either. So... either supporting or opposing the removal of the licence is based on assumptions.

"Let me explain. No, there is too much, let me sum up..."

If the certificates and tests the doctors took were "passed" through fraud or other illegal means (meaning not actually studying and passing the test when taken), the physicians could be made to either pass them honestly (as most physicians are required to do) or to give up their licenses.

However, to say that "The hippocratic oath falls true for all physician," is simply purple prose. Like saying, "An attorney's job is to obtain justice." Sure, but...

I know PR has excellent physicians (doctors include anyone with a Ph.D., use a more correct term please). However, physicians in the U.S.A, in the E.U., or in P.R., may not be "good physicians" if they do not know the information required to pass the FLEX or other exams. Supporting them seems to be like saying, "We should support these people because all physicians are good and honest people." Well, not if they passed their exams through fraud...

Support good physicians, but rail against bad ones. This applies to any profession or person. That seems fair to me.

I don't know exactly what the 'FLEX' stands for, but I do know some of the fact basis of the fraudulent licensing of Puerto Rican physicians.

Puerto Rico gives an exam to prospective physicians that is 'home grown.' It was created by the medical licensing board in Puerto Rico and is totally in Spanish.

The former Executive Director of the Medical Licensing Board (not it's 'official' name) and his personal secretary were accused of changing the grades on some of the exam results for personal gain (money.) In every instance that was identified, the scores were raised to a passing level. Additionally, the 'licensees' had ALL failed the exam more than once. I believe that every 'fraudulently obtained' license was given to a student that graduated from a Spanish language medical school outside Puerto Rico or the US.

Puerto Rico has one certified medical school that I am aware of. To graduate from this medical school one must pass the model exam given to prospective US physicians. Additionally, the Puerto Rico graduates must pass the 'home grown' Spanish language exam in question.

The physicians with the fraudulently obtained licenses were charged by the US District Attorney with fraudulent receipt of Medicare payments and fraudulently obtaining a DEA license to prescribe medicines. There are MORE than 88 people who have been charged with crimes in conjunction with this scandal

If the licensing board fancies regaining any credibility they must meted out punishment – to a degree that deters mischief by others. At some point a second opportunity should be available to them if they live long enough.

This was a dangerous stunt. ALL of those doctors had failed the board exams – more than once, for Pete’s sake!
Real people could have gotten hurt.

Let's all make Gays and Lesbians have licenses to practice in Puerto Rico...these people are the scum of the Earth, the Planet and Puerto Rico.

They have no valid reason for their existence...they think that God is Gay and bestowed the enteral Sacrament of Same Sex Marriage...

They do nothing but contribut to crime and lewd behavior on the beaches, restaurants and in ;ublic...they are a disgrace to normal Men and Women...

They boast of their high intelligence and snub everyone else as unprofessional and undignified. These are the worse people in life...they live in a passion of envy and hatred for their own kind...

They are a curse and predators for our Childern in Puerto Rico....they sit outside Schools in their Cars like Vampires waiting for their next innocent victim to pervertism...

They bring nothing of value to anyone not even themselves...
