Just cause Dominicans can play baseball doesn't mean they are respected as "strong" people. Trujillo and Ballaguer ran the country and nobidy did do anything. Those guys would have lasted a second in Colombia. Some countrys are ful of revolutionaries and some are full of people sit and do nothing. Hitting a baseball doesn't qualify.

Because clearly, baseball & politics are TOTALLY different. Comparing baseball with politics is like comparing an apple with a lobster. You say "Trujillo & Balaguer ran the country & nobody did do anything".--- With all due respect, this is incorrect. There was some opposition to both Trujillo & Balaguer. Granted, this "opposition" wasn't much at all. Nonetheless though, Trujillo did get "neutralized" (assasinated). However, Trujillos assasination came from the Rightwing rather than from the leftwing (aka/ala -- leftwing "revolutionaries", etc.). You say "Those guys would have lasted a second in Colombia".--- With all due respect, this is untrue. And this is why.---- It all depends upon which "faction -- side" one is on. Now, both Trujillo & Balaguer were coming from the Rightwing. And Colombia has a VERY POWERFUL Rightwing (aka/ala --- Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia). And furthermore, each & every year Colombias Rightwing continues to expand -- grow. Subsequently, both Trujillo & Balaguer would have had A LOT of VERY friendly & loyal allies in Colombia. You say "Some countries are full of revolutionaries & some are full of people who sit & do nothing".---- True. Clearly, it all depends upon the respective nation & its people. Here's one example.---- "Liberation theology" was big in Brazil, Nicaragua & El Salvador. However, it wasn't big at all throughout the rest of Latin America nor the Caribbean basin. Now, apart from Castro in Cuba & Chavez in Venezuela, how successful have leftwing revolutionary "movements" been throughout the Caribbean &/or Latin America??--- Not successful at all. And especially when the former U.S.S.R. broke up & when Cuba began having A LOT of economic problems (aka/ala --- When the former U.S.S.R. stopped its $6 billion per year in aid to Cuba). And when did I ever say that there was a correlation between hitting a baseball on the one hand compared to politics, economics &/or social/revolutionary "movements" on the other??--- Answer.-- I never did.

Pepe32, as a haitian i can teach you history. Remember that haitians occupied DR FOR ABOUT 2 DECADES, only because the dominicans alone could not kick the spaniards. The haitians as always have helped the whole south Americans to be free. And now nobody pays respect to the haitians.
