I am a Black Dominicano Americano. My race is black. My ancestors were black slaves. My ethnicity is Afro Dominican, my culture is Dominican American. I'd prefer to be called American though anytime. Mi abuelito...my grandfather thought to be proud to be black speak proper Spanish and learn to speak English properly because he immigrated from Santo Domingo to Puertorro then to Mississippi where I was born to my father Roger Reyes San Cristibal Santiago and mother Carlene Villareal. Black is black. Tego Calderon, Don Omar, Zoe Salda˝a to name a few are proud to be Negros. Its good to see them accept their heritage.

Hahaha I know I saw a lot of that dumb shit on facebook etc I use to talk to this one dominican guy on skype. He said he couldn't stand african americans what was so funny I thought he was african american you know that self-hate bs. He swore up and down he wasn't black after he was born in the states I was born in latin america and I know I'm black. My dad is fully black mom is indian part black I just say I'm black with a indian mom. I love my african culture and I don't understand why dominicans hate theirs its a shame. If they didn't cause trouble and accept themselves as a whole then no one will have no reason to pick on them/slap a bitch for being so damn nieve. Wow that chick actually said she wanted to be white damn the only thing I heard from one is lieing about having vitigalo that was sammy sosa. If he had that diease his skin would have turned white and stayed that way like micheal jackson's skin. The only flaw micheal had was about his nose so he got surgery but had vitigalo that's why he started to wear the one glove. My friends dad has vitigalo it is common in darker people his hands and feet were the 1st to turn white. I'm proud to be chocolate wouldn't change it for the world:-)
One word Trujillo. After Haiti invaded the DR Dominicans lost love for the nation. When they gain independence Trujillo went after Black Haitians and Black Dominicanos. But understand black Americans used to try to look white and some still do it today with perms a so on. As a black Dominican. American I understand why Black Domincans feel that way with slavery and oppression and out right racism in Latin American. If any of you ever watch Spanish networks or see any story about latinos we black Latinos are no where to be found.

You are just silly. You act like blacks trying to claim kinship to others is like trying to spread the plague. And just so you know, not all blacks have nappy hair, wide noses and thick lips. Blacks actually cover the full gamut of what one can look like, from the lightest of light ..... white to the darkest of black. Do you really think that blacks want to be associated with the likes of you who somehow feel insulted or superior? The fact is a lot of you people do have African ancestry just as blacks in America. Grow up! You forgot to mention that many of the folks like you who deny African or black heritage mark the white box under race. What is wrong with that picture?
Thank you my daughters are mixed black Dominican from me Apache and Spanish from their mother. Me and my wife know our races. We say we are American first by nationality but I am black Latino she is Spanish and Apache that simple

Sorry to break it to you, but Dominicans ARE black. You may have been brought up with Latin culture, but your race is still black. However, you two are both so ignorant - which is made very clear from you comments about big lips, big nose, and nappy hair - that I just wanted to take the time to THANK YOU for not claiming to be black.
Oye Dominicans are half black half mexican cause here's one way to tell look at the word Dominican its a different way of saying Mexican they just added words instead of mexi and I've seen Dominicans black skin but their body structure looks Mexican and some of them sound Mexican so ha when a Mexican gets with a black and have kids together mostly they look Mexican or their skin are black and they look Mexican I've seen it so nice try to make Dominicans are just black when they are not Tired Of people judging mi mexican culture Go eat a sandwitch

Why should I call myself 'black' because some AA c*nt with issues on the Internet said so? And yes like most Latinos (sorry but even Mexicans have got like 3-5% black in them) I have some black in me (probably less than 10%).
It's true there are a lot of blacks and mulattoes in the DR but claiming all are is just as dumb as saying all Americans are white. And yes I am sure there are some Dominicans that are black or half black and don't want to be called black. My dad even told me a funny story about his black friend that had in his passport something like "dark Indian".(And I agree it's pretty stupid to do so) When you think about it some half blacks that don't want to be called black makes sense. If they were born in a Latino region, speak Latino language and share Latino culture and just because they are part black they don't want to be called black because they have never had any African culture in them (yes Latino music/food has some African features but rather insignificant)
You never see white people going around other people are white, or Asians trying to claim anyone who at least partly resembles them. On the other hand why AA try to claim other peoples? It's like if I had HIV or something I'd subconsciously (although would not probably admit it) want other people want it too. Same is if I had an F at school I don't want to be alone. Seems like you guys think black is a 'curse' and since you don't have any culture or achievements on your own you want other people feel the same. I am sorry since ancient Egyptians were most likely black (so much proof when you look in it) but even them got whitewashed so most people think they were aryan or 'dark whites' at most. By subscribing into this type of thinking you're automatically subscribing to white supremacy thinking.
Instead of looking up to people like Malcolm X so many black people have these idiots like Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj or puppet Obama. These guys are purposefully chosen by whites to keep you in your ignorant position. I suggest that by investing time in yourselves will pay off much more than going around on the Internet claiming everyone is black so you don't feel that bad about yourselves. I also agree that it is very stupid for anyone especially non white (Latino) to be racist against blacks. Here in Europe everyone would be a victim of such abuse.

So don't hate people cause they ain't from your race.if I was there hear you say that racist stuff I'd tear your corazon and make you eat it and then I'll send your soul to hell and I'd make your body parts into chair parts and make your head be a door bell knocker There's worse people out their than you so keep it up and you end up like the bad movies that people get eaten or turtured

Its negative to say all Dominican's are black. black is a skin color that shouldn't be mixed with to race. there is a difference between race and color. Most Dominicans for the large part of Mulatto (mix of African/Taino/and a little white), so that shouldn't make them being just black. Look at Obama, he isn't fully black, just half-half. That's how Dominicans are, but by taking them from their country and putting them in the middle of NYC, they are considered black. However, we have to look at their background, not skin color. Even the ones that look black ,the color isn't fully black ,its more mix. Still and all, we can make that case for AA's since majority of them aren't not just "black," but have a mix of a little Indian and white since you can distinguish AA's from an African. It seems to me however, that AA's like to always claim all people in that part of the word as just black judging by skin color. Sometimes that's a bad thing categorizing people which they do
