Orilla Del Mar is cheap, and on the beach.
We are heading there in December this year, and we plan to move there too. Have been four times now.

Ok so here goes, I am seriously considering in relocating/moving to DR by Jan 09 with a friend for about a year or more and I would like to work there and live in Cabarete. I need help or advice on homes, cottages, condos for monthly rent at a decent price. Can anyone help?

Just don't take work away from the locals, they need it more...better to create jobs when moving to another's country, rather than take them away, could not be healthy.

Living in Sosua rarely takes a maid unless you have small children. Most people living in Sosua have a house, villa or condo run by a property management agency, hence the reason why most households there don`t have a maid sleeping over.

Most rentals will include the management fee, which can be $60-200.00 per month depending on cleaning frequency and property size. There are about 3 agencies I know of:
North Beach Management, Amber Guardian, DR Rentals Online.

The website of http://www.goldenkeymanagement.com has some rentals though listed short term as Sosua vacation rentals. Some of the properties listed as short term can be rented as long term, ask and you shall be answered.

Good day all ~ we are a family looking to relocate to the DR. It gets my vote over Belize due to the schooling and medical. We have an 8 year old and a 4 year old ~ tack on at least two years before we actually make the jump. Any expats on this board that can offer advice? We would love to still work, pipe dream to own our own cantina(ish) type place. Would love to live like a millionaire but alas we will have a beer budget. Thanks everyone in advance! Cheers ~ and here's to pipe dreams and sand between your toes :-)
