Ok , I'm a 100 % Dominican I was born in Dominican Republic . And all of my family is also , Dominicans are a mix :) ... Some of us are darker and some are lighter .. But really it's just skin .... It's just pigmentation .. Colors . I'm only 15 and I recognize that this world is full of self hate and not many people want to realize it . I have been a victim also . My first language is Spanish and my culture is Spanish and I know that long ago there were a mix of Africans . That's completely normal .i consider myself Spanish because that's the way I was raised . Also Dominicans are 16% white and 11% black .. So...... You can't really force one race into a different race based on appearances it's really based on how you were raised and ethnics. Me for example .. I have gray eyes and long dark brown wavy hair almost straight and tan skin .. So yeah it's a big mix :3 hoped this helped

It is not about racism. It is about repelling a huge Haitian force that includes two million haitian in DR.

We can't hand out our country to animals that have invaded us in 1801, 1805, 1822, 1845, 1849, and 1855.

Ask yourself how come there are 10 million haitian IN JUST ONE THIRD OF THE ISLAND? Who the fck said that it was okay for the Haitian to dump the island with millions of them. The island can't support 20 million people. Haiti is on purpose using numbers to displace the Dominican.

It is time to stop using racism, humanism, pacifism, compassionism, socialism, and human right crap to excuse the animal behavior of the Haitian and their intention to over run the island. FK YOU ALL!

I think that the poster's original comments are a little bit mean, especially the part about Sub-Saharan Africans, but as a mixed race Latina, I sort of get what they mean.

Everyone should have the right to be proud of their own heritage and even though there are Mestizo Latinos mixed with black or African, that doesn't make them "African American". It seems the main people who support the out-dated "One drop rule" anymore are many African Americans, so when one of them try to claim a Mestizo Latino as 'one of them' or as an "African American" it can be offensive to them because they don't subscribe to the African American culture--they have their own, in spite of any amount of African admixture within their DNA.

I will say that in my lifetime, being of mixed race, I have met many blacks who try to 'claim' me or try to guilt trip me into believing that I should claim myself to be black or "African American" and then they try to use the "One Drop Rule" as their excuse, which is something that a racist white man made up, back so many years ago, which was to de-humanize blacks in America--It was very racist, but for some reason there are too many blacks that subscribe to it today, even though it's not a valid rule any longer and yet they don't even realize what they are doing to themselves by worshiping such a demeaning and degrading rule. It's like admitting that they are lower than dirt and they want the mixed person to agree with them by subscribing to such a non-existent rule alongside with them too.

I don't understand why there are blacks who are not proud of who they are and focus too much attention on other people of mixed race and have a strong desire to want to recruit them into the African American culture and being.

And to accuse them of hating blacks or the black race is certainly even worse of a way to try to convince them to want to be 'black' as it were.

Also accusing us of wanting to be white is so off the mark as well. I don't know any Latinos who want to be white. Our culture is rich and we are a very proud people and most of us take offense to other people trampling on our customs and culture.

People need to respect everyone's differences and understand that people come from their own cultures and walks of life.

I wonder why it is that I don't hear it the other way around---Why aren't there all these people trying to claim blacks into their race or culture? Why is it always a black person guilty of such a thing? That is a sign that there are issues within the black community that needs to be addressed. There needs to be more pride among African Americans. They need to be nicer to each other and find more ways to bond with each other, instead of trying to find other people from other cultures who may share a certain amount of African admixture within them.

The one drop rule is not real--it never really was, because it's not scientifically proven, which is why it doesn't exist anymore today--no matter how much you want to believe in it. That doesn't make it true at the end of the day.

I realize there is a desire to have some kind of connection with other people, but there are other ways to bond with people without trying to make it about race---we are humans, we have allot in common with each other. If you respect me, I'll respect you.

I'm west African and i'm light skin with long hair but i'm mixed with anything else i'm pure African blood some people think i'm Dominican .People, pure race is better whatever you look like dark, light. Before I was living in Geneva Switzerland and they were no complex about African who are light or dark everyone are beautiful in their own kind .But is sad that African american can see beauty in themselves. You know when you see Dominican or mixed race people no matter how light beautiful they are just remember that they are not like you they are black & white but you are a pure race. In Europe and everywhere except in america mixed people are separated race from African(American) that were the problem is they need to be separated. Also, there are some African american that claim that they are mixed(and also how can you claim that your great great grandmother was rape by white man so keep it quite) maybe they are but not 50% as i'm concern. So let those mixed race people have their own race category ( i'm sure it will happen one day in american because it's willy need). African with dark skin and big nose and big lips are beautiful and that what the majority look like .people you need to understand that not only white feature and skin color is attractive African skin color and feature is as well.

the reason why all black and haitians hate dominicans and want us to scream to the world that we are black is because they are envious of the way we look yeah alot of us are black mulato beige indian and white. but you see that lucrative mix makes us look very unique some of us look extremely latin others look black and others look mixed only thing is we are all related every dominican has a relative that falls into one of the above categories, plus unlike african americans and haitians most dominicans who are black got their last name thru a spanish ancestor most people i know, you visit there grandparents and you see an old as wedding picture with a white man and mulato lady, because the spanish men unlike the men from england and france were so catholic that they would marry their slave woman and give the children the last name this is the way things were in dr for hundreds of years. so we can trace our names back to spain and we know our origin but you guys here and in haiti fell victims to worst slave owners french and english who were discusted by the black race and anything connected to it, thats why you guys got your names from the family that owned you. michael jordan got his name because the JORDAN family owned his ancestor, so thats how dominican blacks are different

White people have used colour to perfect their system of discrimination to ny on 1000 years. Black was the original race on the earth. it is mentioned in the Bible, if you can find a copy which has not been tampered with, or if you want the truth then look in the Quran. The Holy book for Muslims. Adam was fashioned from Black mud. The uniqueness in the Black race sets it apart from others as being the first. Just like the broad spectrum of the rainbow. from darkness comes light. hence the last race on Earth was the Caucasian or caucasoid. If you know nothing of dominant and recessive, then this scientific argument will pass over your head. Blacks have dominant genes which means that if a Black person has a child with a white person, although the child will have mixed blood, it will be a Black child. I'll give you the dominant & recessive scientific argument in another example. If you mix dark brown paint with white paint you get various variants of brown i.e. beige. It cannot be white because the brown paint is dominant over the white. The same applies to the genes that you pass onto your children. The history of Hispaniola is such that the Spanish made sure that the Blacks in DR hated their Black skin & ancestry & saw themselves as being Spanish or white. What the Spanish failed to inform Dominicans is that the Spanish themselves have Black blood, not only through lineage back to the first man Adam, but also because they themselves were conquered & ruled over by Moors (Muslims) who also happened to be Black. It was the Haitians who sucessfully removed BOTH the french & Spanish from all of Hispaniola. the campaign of hatred did not stop though. Both France & Spain kept Haitians & Dominicans poor till this very day. Instead of Hispaniola uniting, they are divided & fighting over what to call themselves. If you really want to appear smart instead of dumb, then firstly get God in your life. Secondly study science & genetics. Science does not prove God. God proves science. So, if the scientists can confirm that the Black race was the first on Earth, the French & the Spanish brought slaves from Africa to Hispaniola. The majority of people in both countries therefore would be Black. Yes, there are some people in DR & even Haiti who do not look Black, but rest assured, if you need the white man to validate that you are NOT WHITE, then go & visit his countries & see what they call you!. Then perhaps you will understand that if it looks like something, acts like something, the chances are that it is that something. Self hatred indeed makes Dominicans look very FOOLISH to the outside world. It cannot be argued that in DR there are plenty of beautiful looking people, to put this solely down to mixing with Europeans is tomfoolery. There were other native races in the island & if you study far enough back, the peoples of the Caribbean & Americas had met Black people LONG BEFORE Columbus or any other European hopped ona boat to mass enslave people & to this day people still celebrate their enslavers & denegraters?. I can only shake my head.
The Quran is a tampered with version of the bible....

Your sound extra ignorant. African vary in skin colours and hair textures. Sure, the majority of black Africans are darker, but there is a great number that are light skin. Look at Cape Verde, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Seychelles, Tanzania- East Africa, Chad etc. You sound ignorant like most Dominicans do, hence why the world hates you.Dominicoons are nothing but cancers.

I met people a lot of people in Atlanta Georgia who I thought were Dominican ,but they were from Africa, I know that Dominican people that you white but remimember former predident of the Dominican republic trellilo Molina try to kill all Dominican people saying you,ll are too black,he also import 50,000,0 nasty prostitute from Spain saying he is whiting the dpminican republic, I think thzt you don,t read like most Dominican, people but the leaders of the Dominican republic report that the dlminican republic as a black country because more than 50 percent of the people of the dominican republic is black so that,s what make doinican black people. When i first met people from the dpmi.ican republic in New york i first thought that you were afro american, so stop abusing drugs then your Will open then your eyes Will open then your can identify the true colour of your skin.

PEOPLE.....

MIXED is NOT a RACE. The 4 Races in this Planet are White, Black, Indigenous (indian) or Asian.

I know DOminicans do NOT see themselves as Black,,and they do NOT see themselves as having AFRICAN blood,,which they DO.

A person could be REALLY Dark,,and yet consider themselves WHITE.

I was born there,,,i KNOW.

YES,,the CULTURE is Spanish, BUT the RACE is mostly BLACK.

Dominicans DENY any African ANcestry.

I know is all about cosmetics, if someone has curly hair,,its called "pelo malo" (bad hair)
if someone has hazel eyes or lighter,,,they are RUBIO...(blonde).

when the first black presedent win in the us ,the first person who want to kill him was a domonican man up in the Bronx, another domonican along Withe 3 white man was trying to kill a blzck man in xtatin island. During the civil rights era domonican people live in NY all of them were hiding behind bushes they did march and protest for there own rights but when matin Luther king get the civil rights law passed .domonican people come out of hiding and want to be equal with black people all domonican benefit from the blood and sweath of afroamerican but they have no respect for afroamerican,I am glad that I was born in Panama not the domonican republic.

Wow, so many ignorant, stupid people here. I'm African with caramel skin and long hair. When i went to Dominican Republic, EVERYONE thought i was Dominican. Africa is the most diverse continent in the world. Not everything is dark with short hair, and even if we were, SO WHAT. Very dark people with course hair are just as beautiful. I'm glad my people were never slaves and raped like Dominicans, because i love myself. Dominicans ancestors were West African slaves who were raped and beaten by Spaniards and taino Indians! You were taught to hate being African. What's crazy is that you're still soooo similar to Africans! Your music, food, everything! If you visit a country in West or Southern Africa, you'll be SHOCKED at how similar we are. Dominicans are just mulatto Africans in my eyes. Sorry, history doesn't lie. You place yourself in a slave mode by denying your African ancestry. Yes, you are not fully black, but the black blood is still there and EVIDENT.

Free yourself from the slave mind! You have African blood and there's NOTHING wrong with it! The white slave masters wanted to make you think there was something wrong with you! Free yourself!
