I have a real estate business in the Dominican Republic (North Coast) selling villas and lots to build.
On the North Coast there are plenty of perfect spots to build holidays homes that are perfect investments due to the shortage of rentals in the area.
There are always plenty of Canadians here in the 5 star hotels but to be honest they don't see anything of the country because they stay around the bar and pool all day.
Why don't they contact the people who live here to take advantage of the environment and the atmosphere?
Any comments?

Exactly, you can't see further than your nose, or your beer or cubalibre.

What you could have would be profitable and you could still sip your booze around your own pool.

Most of the hotels are all inclusive and they advise the cliental not to stray from the hotel. They have their own tour groups, which are pricey. It is a shame that the tourist industry is so one sided. The countryside of Dominican Republic is beautiful, safe and the people are very friendly. If the people visiting the DR got away from the tourist traps the real estate business would boom

I am intersted in getting more information on retirement homes in D.R. Do you have a website?

Hello, I am looking for a place to retire from the cold weather in Canada. Does anyone have an idea where I should start to look for a place?

I’m a Canadian that made the choice to head for warm weather and I don’t regret it. The DR is warm, friendly and cheap. It is a perfect retirement area where you pension will afford you a life that you only dreamed of. My pension in Canada is not enough to live on I would need a part time job but here I live like a king

Sosua and Cabarete are nice if you have the money and want to be with other expatriates. If you want to enjoy the country and the people. Look to the areas that are not tourist traps. I bought land in the countryside and built my house. Doing it on a small pension and living on the pension at the same time.

Thanks Doug, If I did that it would have to come with a pool. And yes Cabarete is nice,(getting expensive), but rather touristy. We do not want to be with ex pat, we love the people there, we have friends in Cabarete, and would like to be close to them. We also are thinking of buying a small business, I am a awesome cook and brother makes schnitzel that is to die for. My daughter is looking for places in Mexico. Do you know of any realtors there? We have been to the Dominican Republic three times now, and have seen a lot of the countryside, and it is beautiful, and yes it would be nicer and cheaper to live there than the tourist towns. Thanks amigo. Send pictures if you can. We hope to be in the Dominican again this spring, but we do have a family trip to make at Christmas, and daughter wants to go to Mexico,(she has a date, ja ja ja). I want them to come to the
Dominican especially my son. I am sure he will love it as we do.
Thanks a lot for your post amigo.

Is that a picture of your Home Doug? It is 'bonita'. We can retire at the age of 55 if we want, and our pension will be close to 4 thousand a month. That should be enough huh? But like I said I would rather take that money and buy a business there, one like a bar/retaurant/ and or a small hotel. Vivir la vida del local, that is the life for us. Last time we stayed at a villa just out of Sosua, Casa Linda, and a 'rana' kept us up every night. So do you have noisey 'rana'? My husband is a city boy, and likes the cabarete scene, me I am a country girl, and like the peace and tranquility, and not so many people. But I do not mind the hustle and bustle of people, as long as I know I can always shut it all out later in my home. So we are on the look out for more a business, maybe our home will be in the country. I have been in the tourism and hospitality industry for over 35 years, and love to work with the public, so would like to live and work in the DR. We have the best friend there now, and he is a real big help in this, what we need to live there, etc. Did you find it hard? It is always nice to know from others who actually have made the move and experienced it, as it is the best teacher.

Your pension would be great in the countryside as it is about 3 times larger than mine. That is a photo of the house I built. We are putting in a pool right now. I think there is good opportunity for business here. The only problem is that you will have officials that will tell you it can’t be done but with money to the right people anything is possible.
I live near Luperon on the north coast and next time your coming this way stop by.

I think the best place ever to buy real estate properties either in the north coast and the whole Dominican Repulic area is this one: www.propertycenter.tv located at SOSUA, North of the Country. I have bought and visited many real estate agencies around this wonderful country but this office let me surprised! The atmosphere around the offices, their agents, this dynamic young man Tay Oz and Mr. George are the highest experiencie i've ever had. They sell Houses, Appartment, Condos, Beachfront Villas, Mansions, Lands for developers, Marine real estate, Industrial Plots and so on...Do not believe just click their site or visit them.

That's right Property Center (www.propertycenter.tv) is the best Real Estate Agency at Sosua and probably the rest of the country! I bought my beachfront villa there and iam so happy :)

I too had a great experience with Robert Michael and Steven Goodridge, you will be amazed with these guys! I have nothing but the upmost respect for both of them! They got me deals that no one had access to. My previous brokers had no idea that these other properties existed! In addition, they have staff in the DR and California. Just give them a call and you will see what I am talking about.(www.robertmichael.com)

Hi Joseph and Mary, thanks for the kind words, I hope we deserve such compliments!!!

Our dynamism may show because we are able to work in this beautiful island without stress, without rushing and without worrying so maybe The Dominican Republic makes us better!

However let us thank you again...

Anyone interested in a high quality condo investment on the North Coast should check out Infiniti Blu www.infiniti-blu.com . Haven't come across anything that nearly compares in quality of design, materials, construction and management in this country or many others for that matter. Even included in the purchase price are closing costs; title guarantee, title insurance, secure escrow services by Stewart Title and an owner's guarantee package. Great Sosua location with only 80 or so units planned on 20,000 m2.

The Infiniti-blu project is great. However, Tay Oz and his father George are referred to as "the idiot pair" around Sosua. They were fired from representing dr1.com in real estate. But if you need someone stabbed in the back, they are the guys. Double dealing is their specialty.
