Dominican flag incident at Roger Williams Middle School in Providence

An administrator at Roger Williams Middle School has been placed on paid leave after he reportedly grabbed a Dominican flag from a student and stepped on it.

The assistant principle would have to be "the meanest and strictest guy" because he deals with students who have no rules at home, do not want to speak English. I have seen where the latinos hang their countrys flag above the AMERICAN FLAG. Why do you come here and not go by the rules and regulations. Roger Williams has been ruined by the Latinos.........and you and your families are doing your best to ruin Rhode Island and the USA!!

I worked with a Guatemalan who didn't like the Puerto Ricans, and Puerto Rican who didn't like the Mexicans- he said they steal cars and replace the VIN numbers. Same as when the europeans arrived, they didn't like each other as much but then they started intermarrying. I have friends who are Greek and Irish and back in the day that didn't float but now who cares? It's funny you see more interacial couples down south than here in RI.

This has to be the most ignorate statement I have ever read. First, the assistant principle may be "the meanest and strictest Guy", but he still has to respect the students and their culture. They are humans who bleed the same color as you and I. Second, It is rude to say that students do not have rules at home. Every houshold as a different set of values and norms. Sometimes it is a personality thing, but other times it is a culture thing. It is not that some one comes here a does not want to follow rules, it just they have to get use to following different directions. It is obtuse to think that every person in the world follows the same household rules. Third, everyone has some sense of pride for the heritage. If you were to move to a different country, whould you put the American Flag over that country's flag? I know I would because there is a sense of symbolic pride. I want the world to know I am American. Also, I think the American Military hang the American Flag above the other country's flag on their camps around the world. Lasty, who are you to say that Latino's have ruined Roger Williams, and America? Who are you to judge someone culture? We have had issues of this degree before, during the Civil Rights Movement. White people during that time tought and spoke the same way you are today. It is a thinking that is prejudice, and racist. Thomas Jeffeson said "All men are created equal", meaning every person is the same. In every race you will find people with the same qualities, but have different values. In the eyes of God, however, we are all EQUAL!!!

Okay yeah it is bad that he did that. But most likely the kid did something first. Because I went to that school and hes not such of an ass hole. most of the time if you did something bad you could go to him and he would help you out. I am latina, its not like im going against my people. I just know how rude kids can be.

I think it disgraceful. Only in the throw-back state of RI. Give rights to those that break Federal Laws on a consistent basis, don't pass the e-verify, last year's 1st baby on the front page of the Providence Journal was an Anchor Baby and the father was deported...and now...they want to put another flag at an American School??? This is not the U.N. and there are many other races out there that would also enjoy their flags raised. You shouldn't arbitrarily choose to put one over the other, rather, go by the country of choice which we should all be proud of.

I remember this happened in 7th grade but I'm in 8th grade now at that crappy school since then mr. Perkins racist ass has been gone and a principle mr. Palumbo took his place but now mr. Palumbo is gone and so is mrs. Hawkins there's a new principle dr. Naggy and mr.mosely is still here anyway that day was crazy! There were mad fights too and I heard some kids threw a plaintain at mr. Perkins LOL haha and I ain't Spanish I'm Asian (Cambodian) but I love the Latinos I think it was so messed up to do that but sapposedly it's because if a puertorican kid sees a Dominican kid with the flag they might fight cuz of a rivalry WTF a majority of the kids are half dominican half puertorican I mean if there people are having sex with each other what makes you think they hate each other ughh dumb teachers GO DOMINICANS!!!
