Ok so first of all if that is the case i am sorry for my ignorance.

But i ask this question because it seams like Djiboutian people are in their own world. I mean i have never met some one form Djibouti call them self's Somali. i know yall speak Somali and Djibouti use to be a Somali state colonized by the French and then it got its independence first, that is why Djibouti is its own country today. But i also always asked my self why didn't Djibouti join back Somalia when the rest of Somalia got its independence and it was really nice?

It is weired to have an other country where the majority is Somali speaking people but don't call them self's Somali. Don't get me wrong i respect and love Djibouti as my own people but i just want your thoughts on this.

Very proud to be called Somali, yes I'm from Djibouti never been to the "MOTHER LAND" Somalia.

Western countries have used the divide and conquer strategy in Africa during the colonial and post-colonial period. The concept of "Divide and Rule" or strategy were charged with playing one tribe against another to maintain control of their territories with a minimal number of imperial forces.

It's common principle in politics and we SOMALI has been divided to French, English and italian and we are still suffering from this wedge strategy

We should use the higher moral values of our idendity... we'll come back strong and restore the pride we once had.

Vive djibouti

Stop dreaming you somali fucking idiots. You are of immigant origin except few issas. The country was called french somaliland for political reasons by french in order to exclude afars who were too powerful at the time. Somali was in the beginning brought to Djibouti as slaves to labour for whites. That's why they have big asses. Ils servaient de roue de secours. HaHaHaHiHiHi. First Issas would not allow you to call us somalis. Somali is malediction>

Wow, I'm disapointed by the comments of our brothers fom Somalia and even more from my fellow Djiboutians.

To answer your question, even though the Somali ethnic group is the majority in Djibouti (somewhere between 50 to 60%), Djibouti is not a Somali nation. Don't get me wrong, I am a Somali myself (but Djiboutian), but we have 3 main ethnic groups:
-Somali
-Afars
-Arabs
And as so, in order for us to live in peace and harmony (which we had so far), we have to respect each group's language, culture and identity. So that's why we say and feel we are first "Djiboutian", then either Somali, Afar, Arab or others.
Our nation has come a very long way since the glorious day of independance, and it's by respecting everyone's identity that we did so.
So to our brothers from Somalia, don't get us wrong, we belong to a multicultural nation and even though we are the majority, we don't have to impose our language and culture to our fellow countrymen of different ethnicity. That's why French is still the official language of Djibouti not to impose one of our languages upon others. We have to be fair to one another.
I deeply beleive that if we want to mantain our unity, we have to respect and be proud of our cultural diversity. And I am proud of it!

To the Djiboutians, this country does not belong to the Issas (ciise) only, I am a Issa myself, but we share the country with other Somali clans and beyond, with Afars, Arabs and others.
Cette terre nous appartient tous, et si nous voulons y vivre dans la paix et l'harmonie, nous devons toujours garder a l'esprit et defendre le caractere multiculturel de notre chere nation.

Vive Djibouti!
Ha noolaato Djibouti!
(so sad I can't fluently speak Afar)

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Capricorn

Take things slowly and all will be well. However, you must resist a tendency to be perfectionist over things that don't really matter, otherwise you'll never finish the chores. If you're busy with Christmas preparations, you'll have to control a nagging feeling that you've got to compete with the way other people have done things in the past.
