What the Hell is Hellim?

I went to a Turkish restaurant and I asked the owner if he has hellim cheese? He said I have no idea what is hellim.He said this cheese is maybe Greek or Arabic!!!!

There are many Turkish cheeses that I don't know of

but it doesn't mean to say they are not Turkish.

and as for Greek cheese, is there a such thing called Greek cheese?.

Yes there is dimwit, Feta and Haloumi for starters

Hellim is what the Greeks call haloumi
hellim is the real name
maybe its easy for the Greeks to call it haloumi Thats ok let them call it that everyone knows the real name is hellim

turks also have somethinmg similar which is calld beyaz peynir

I asked a Turkish guy here who runs the kebab shop about hellim and he said it's something used in balloons, a kind of gas. I'm assuming he was talking about helium

Red onion is my preference, goes better with haloumi, you should try it ask a Cypriot
