Let me see if I get this right. TCs made their demands clear prior to 74, the government knew which areas exactly they wanted and you all want us to believe that Greece coup was for Cyprus to annex with Greece? Did anybody miss the sign that says:"If forced, Turkey will step in"? Could it be that Greek junta with the help of Makarios sold the Cypriots to Turkey to satisy the demands of US? They knew the coup would fail, they knew most Cypriots were against the union, but still went through with it to divert attention and confuse the real intend. Every paper and every document during the 70's discussed the discontent of the TCs and all Cypriots knew of the part of Cyprus the TCs wanted to keep. I am just wondering who is the smartest in this scenario? A. The Turks for focusing on their goal and waiting for the perfect opportunity? B. The Greeks who fell for the tricks of mother Greece who sold them to the highest bidder? and who are still unware of what happened? After 35 years, Greeks are still barking the wrong tree and praising the traitor, mother. Very impressed with the protest. Very nice group of people. If it weren't for the civilized and well organized protestors, I would mistake them for GCs. Do you people realize how much you are the same?

before we get blamed and the shyt gets thrown around check this out this google translation from greek outlining what merely happened Turkey merely implemented a 20 year old greek plan of dividing Cyprus way back as 1956 Documents of Forein Serpent istoria.O illuminate the then Foreign Minister of Greece Evangelos Averoff in September 1956, proposed the partition as the best solution to the Cyprus problem. A series of highly confidential documents Forein Serpent, which by reason of their content, released only after 50 years (instead of 30 years as is the case with other secret British documents) contain dramatic new evidence in the case of Cyprus. In the autumn of 1956 in Cyprus continued to vigorously struggle of EOKA.Hundreds of new Cypriot daily took the oath of EOKA ready to die for Self-determination slogan - Association. The Archbishop Makarios was exiled to the Seychelles, and Digenis had left its den in the Cypriot capital and was in the mountains of Troodos educating the rebel groups. So while the whole of Cyprus conducted a hard and unequal struggle, the then Foreign Minister of Greece Evangelos Averoff proposed in various political circles and in the same Turkish ambassador in Athens, the division of Cyprus as the solution of the Cyprus question. my fellow cypriots this is directed to those that are hell bent nationalists and rascist

"This was not something new but obviously Melas said some things that the Greeks were willing to do. These included the partition of the island by the Turks in the ratio of 20-80 percent and the granting to turks a platform with full sovereignty." 35%- 60% is what turned out in the end as opposed to 20-80 and didnt greece have a left wing government in 1956!

Look at the map...The division lines are almost identical to today, albeit a lot straighter! All I can say is Wow!!! I'm speachless!!!! your father was right. In the seventies everybody knew which part of Cyprus Turks wanted. It was well known by the people and the politicians. They also knew that Turkey was waiting for the perfect timing and the right opportunity. What never made sense to me is why continue the mistreatment of TCs when trying to keep the island together? Why not treat them right to entice them to want to fight with us for the same cause against Turkey? Greece and Makarios and everybody else were aware of Turkey's intentions but Greece went ahead with the coup. Was it intentional, opening the door to Turkey at the request of the US? If a lesson is to be learned by all this, Cypriots should know that too many chiefs in Cyprus have stripped Cypriots of the oontrol of their own country. Unity and independance allow only the citizens of that country to be the boss. We are now, still clinging to Greece and waiting for Russia and other big countries to take care of us. They all use us and take wht they need and can use for themselves. Nobody gives a damn and nobody respects Cyprus or the cause. A good start will be to fire all professional politicians and get some new blood. Focus on internal issues tht help people and their welfare. Make life in Cyprus more just and fair, remove corruption to attract more overseas Cypriots to return and even retire there. At the same time forget the past and move forward with a solution tht includes TCs and GCs best interests. If it is a fair solution to both parties, the world will have no choice than participate. Everybody is looking for good news and positive world peace news to announce. This is a new era in search of change and hope. or just sit back and continue the hate game and have all the parties that helped in the division, laugh and mock us.The sooner, the better for all Cypriots, Cyprus, its economy and reputation. You will be surprised how many Cypriots will make Cyprus their retirement destination and how many more will visit more often to show it off to their families and friends. Why do Cypriots still tolerate all this emotional rolocauster? Why do they vote for people who have strong ties to the past problems and listen to them reminisce about their experiences. What about voting for people who can focus on the present and the future and if possible, a son of a bitch that has no emotions at all and studies the problem from a business perspective? If you want the TCs to revolt against Turkey, give them the encentive and start treating them like brothers. Cyprus is their home as well. Set an example by fighting your own demons before expecting others to fight theirs

Set an example by fighting your own demons before expecting others to fight theirs News.. Just further..Irrespective of the problems Cypriots were having, Turkey had only rights to restore constiutional laws, not to occupy the island! Another thing, Turkish Cypriots are upset about their international isolation, yet, they refuse to vacate or even acknowledge the lands that they are living on illeagally!! To stand over an island and have a whole population under the threat of invasion, is a breach of the most basic human rights.. Also, it it is an abuse of power by a Nato and G20 member! Imagine if USA invaded Fiji..The international condemnation would echo for miles and years. Yet, to this day, The Cyprus issue always takes a back seat to other more important matters!
