ATHENS – Greece is the cradle of democracy but, as the world has seen recently, a financial crisis is no time to put important questions to the people. Prime Minister George Papandreou’s proposed referendum on the country’s loan deal with the European Union, called off quickly after intense international opposition, illustrated that perfectly.

My name is Abdul...sometimes I use Mehmetin and sometimes I use Goran for self-Identity. I am a TurkoSlav, half-way between Turkic - Slavic, with slight bias towards the Slavic. Like me, there is another 4 Million of us scattered around the Balkans and Norther-Cyprus

.
If you claim Greece is the cradle of democracy, why doesn’t people of Greece have any say? Why doesn’t Government hold a referendum and let people decide for the future of Greece rather than Germany?Greek leadership are scared of referendum, why?
After all, Greeks are claim to be the cradle of democracy but scared of to put it practise.

greece dont claim the world claims is the cradle of Dimokratia Dimos =people and Krato to hold .do you real believe today any country is democratic as Athens in 4th century BC?no I dont think so ,Romans ruin democracy by inventing Senatores ,leggal crooks pay by big corporation to bend the law ,for their Favor.Athens was real democratic state the people = demos had referedums in central agora, and pass laws not 300 crooks ,after 4 years they live like kings the rest of their lifes stealing the public funds ,internationally .Papadreou wanted to have a referedum but the Germans specially were against they wanted a quik answer no time for referedum.so dont blaim the Greeks check and see thats the way went /.Its leggal in the US for a company to donate money to a politician for election, what you thing the politician will do if he gets elected ? he will return the favor /.man politics are filthy full of bribes ,and bottom line people pay in the end.Romans screw everting they took from the Greeks , 12 gods out of busness with 50 years after Roman empire was in power, they change everbodys name ,hellenes became Greeks deutch became germans .........any way the way we go this planet wouldnt last another 100 years /.nice taliking to you no offence.
