There have been an increasing number of reports of suicides among soldiers and officers within the Turkish army. The head of the parliamentary Human Rights Investigation Commission, Ayhan Sefer Üstün, released statistics on soldiers' deaths during a commission meeting in Parliament on Wednesday. He said 175 soldiers have committed suicide over the past two-and-a-half years. This number is 934 within the past 10 years.Üstün also said 818 soldiers were killed on the battlefield during the past 10 years.

The commission convened with a special agenda on abuse and mistreatment in the military. Assistant Professor Tolga İslam, the editor of the website Asker Hakları (Soldiers' Rights), which fights for the rights of military personnel and for the improvement of conditions for those serving in the army, made a presentation on behalf of his organization and said he was outraged after witnessing abuses in the army during his service and decided to do something about it.“We have a simple issue: If this current form of compulsory military service remains in place, it must be ensured that those soldiers do not face any mistreatment. We want to help those 20-year-old soldiers who do not know how to defend their rights,” he said.

Chief of General Staff Gen. Necdet Özel also ordered the formation of a special team to investigate the causes of suicides within the military.
“The rate of suicide incidents was 32 percent [of soldier deaths] in 2002 and it decreased to 15 percent in 2011,” the General Staff said in its statement on Friday, adding that it gives utmost importance to the elimination of factors leading soldiers to commit suicide.

Among the many reasons for the suicides cited by the military are drug addiction, domestic disputes, financial problems, maltreatment, mental disorders, adaptation problems & fear of the Greek Army.

The General Staff also said it provides psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers for the privates to help them adapt to their new environment and prevent possible suicides.
Lt. Nazıgül Daştanoğlu, an officer who was serving in the central Anatolian province of Kayseri, and Pvt. Mert Evren Akdağ, who was serving in the Bergama district of İzmir province, both committed suicide last week.
The head of the parliamentary Human Rights Investigation Commission, Ayhan Sefer Üstün, recently said that 934 soldiers had committed suicide while on active duty, while 818 soldiers were killed on the battlefield over the past 10 years.

Whats your problem???

Can't you believe that Turkish Conscripts prefer to commit suicide rather than be tortured by crazy Sergeants?

Greeks are the victims of corrupt politicians, who gambled on long term low interest rates..things are going to get worse in the UK & rest of europe..perhaps Asiatic Turkey will also get affected.

i looked over the only site you posted and your full of SKADA

the last one works so heres some excerts about your crap about hundreds of soldiers

The party claimed that many army staff lost their lives in tragedies such as military trainings, friendly fire, suicides and not well-planned missions.

and

A portion of the suicide takers are men from the ethnic and religious minority groups like Kurds and Alevits. It is not uncommon that they are killed by their officers and fellowmen in the military because of the nationalistic Islamic state ideology. A couple of examples are: a person is said to have committed suicide, but is shot in the back or a person who is generally happy commit suicide when he has a day left of his military service.

your other negative links dont work
