President Dervis Eroglu has said he is working to reach a healthy solution to the Cyprus Problem.
Eroglu also stated that the Cyprus issue which has become a chronic one is off the agenda of the international community.
Speaking during an event yesterday, President Dervis Eroglu touched upon the Cyprus issue.
Stating that he wants to find a solution to the Cyprus problem which has been continuing for many years, Eroglu pointed to the importance of an urgent solution to the problem.
Also referring to the change in the Greek Cypriot Leadership, the President said ‘the first thing I did was call Mr Anastasiadis to congratulate him then sent him a letter in which I expressed my wish for the re-launch of the negotiations after deciding on a road map’.
Stating that he sent the same letter to the UN Secretary General, Eroglu said that he discussed the issue with the UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer in detail.
Noting that the continuation of the problem has a negative effect on people’s psychology, the President said the most important factor in reaching a solution is to have an intention towards that affect.
