Cyprus far too valuable to resist, same with Macedonia. Too many nomads around Greece and Cyprus looking for more land, culture and wealth.

Nice hearing from you, keep well. God Bless Cyprus and Greece.

By 14th of July 1974 there was not 1 single Turkish Cypriot Politician, Civil Servant, Policeman, Judge, Customs Officer, Bureaucrat.

Greek Cypriots Seized and Hijacked ALL PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS AND STATE ORGANS. They practically had ENOSIS except in name only by 14 July 1974.

So no its not the other way around.

Only in Greek Propaganda land where "Cyprus problem starts on 20 July 1974 when Turkey..." and where the problems in Cyprus is due to the Turkish Cypriots, Turks from Turkey, the UK, the USA, the EU, NATO, CIA, UN and everyone else in the entire world except the Republic of Greece, EOKA B and Greek Cypriots.

Greek Cypriots are genetically closer to Lebanese than they are to real ethnic Greeks from Athens.

Human activity dates back to at least 8,000 to 10,000 years before any Greek colonist came to Cyprus. So no Cyprus wasn't Greek since day one.

Greek Cypriots and the Republic of Greece signed International Agreements. You can't just renegade on signed agreements!

All in the history, study it.

Certainly Greeks lived in Turkey before Turks from Mongolia.

Nope, see my post above. The Ottomans never even captured Cyprus off a Greek polity. The Venetians never even captured Cyprus off a Greek polity. Even Frenchys never captured Cyprus off an Greek polity.

Yeah, they were there before the Turks but they ORIGINALLY IMMIGRATED from regions corresponding to modern day Greece.

Greeks inhabited cyprus prior to the aforementioned invaders. Same with Asia Minor, evidenced by the wonders thet left behind.

History tells us Cyprus is a country whose inhabitants are Cypriots of diverse ethnic groups.
History also tells us that in third world countries where ignorance privails, there are conflicts between ethnic groups. The majority tends to discriminate against minorities in an attempt to control and dominate.

Learn history Eli but please do not confuse the crap they breast feed you in Cyprus with facts. Greece inhabitants are Greeks and Cyprus inhabitants are Cypriots.

Eli, you get to choose the following. Is Cyprus a developped country in which multi-ethnic groups live and enjoy freedoms or is it a country that believes that only one ethnic group, the majority should be its only residents?

Cypriots extremist and fanatic views on the minorities in Cyprus have no place in a civilized society. If GCs are allowed to take citizenship of another country after four years of residency, it is fair to assume that TCs after hundreds of years in Cyprus are legal citizens and co-owners of this country.Trying to use the social practices and ignorance of many Muslim countries in the region and trying to eliminate diversity in Cyprus is pure ignorance and racism. Respect is earned and is a sign of a civilized society.

Another common practice Cyprus has with the fanatic Muslim countries in the region is the lack of separation of Church and State. You are not different than Iran in that respect. Your religious leaders should have no say in the government of a country in which not all its citizens are Christians. Equality under the law should prevail and freedom of religion and freedom to be whoever people want to be is what determines democracy and civilization.

If you think that you have rights on Cyprus because you can trace your ancestors back few years, If you think that for ever your rights and those of your kids are preserved even though you live elsewhere, then it is very absurd to suggest that the rights of the TCs have expired because Cyprus is no longer an Ottoman Empire colony. I suggest you use some common sense when reading history. Otherwise, you reach some absurd conclusions that custom fit your discriminating mind.

I'm only quoting history of Cyprus, the current Cypriot affairs are of little knowledge to me, therefore, unable to comment.

Eli, it is fair to assume you are Greek or Greek Cypriot because of your name and comments. You say you are quoting the history of Cyprus and you have no knowledge of the current Cypriot affairs.
Where in Cyprus' history does it say that its inhabitants have always been Greek from the beginning? Should I go around claiming that because Indians were the indigenes here in the States, the US is Indian country and the Europeans and others who arrived here years ago don't count? Should the Indians throw all out and be the only ones being called Americans?

If you want to quote Cypriot history, please talk about the Venitians, the Franks, the Arabs, the Turks, the British and so many others that spent time on the island. You don't get to choose one ethnicity and claim your DNA is only Greek. If you do, then, it is really sad because you intentionally stripped the Cypriots of their rich and diverse heritage. You can do that to your hair, color it blond and have fun, you can have a nose job and other physical changes but you can't change your heritage that way. There is a good chance that your kids will be born having your original nose and hair color.

What fascinates me is that all GCs here and elsewhere, are still uninformed about the current situation of their beloved Cyprus. How can that be possible. When you love your country that much as you claim, you worry about its welfare, read the local papers first before posting on forum, keep updated of its current issues, political, social etc. How can you in good faith post on Cyprus forum if you have no idea of what is going on in Cyprus? US citizens seem to know more about Cyprus that many of you here. It was in the news for over three weeks and even the average American has a good grasp of the problem. We also have a good knowledge of the history because we have books on European history. The present always more important than the past because we live it.

My conclusion is that you don't get to claim rights on a country, you don't visit, don't contribute, don't bother to get informed about or care enough to listen to the news when its name is mentioned. You shouldn't participate in a forum of a subject you know nothing about. Even the Greek festivals celebrated all over the world are not enough to make you Greek. Many non Greeks that go to them, enjoy ethnic food and in this world we have plenty of ethnic foods to choose from. I don't remember ever seeing a Cypriot festival here in the States. Greek ones, with Greek flags and Greek music. Stop living in the past and pretending that the Ancient Greeks are your relatives and you are all philosophers. Look at your closest relatives, the society you reside in and the education you acquired to define you.

Dr Kuchuk was Vice-President of the Republic of Cyprus from 1960 to 1973, and Rauf Denktash was Vice-President of the Republic of Cyprus from 1973 to 1974, and Dr Ihsan Ali was a member of Makarios' cabinet from 1970 to 1977.

Furthermore, TCs worked in Cyprus Embassies around the World from 1960 till August 1974.

"In 1973, Denktash was elected vice-president of the Republic of Cyprus."

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-133537...

"On December 3, 1959 Kucuk was elected Vice President of the new Republic. Following Greek Cypriot attempts to modify the constitution (see Cyprus dispute). Küçük continued as the Vice President of the Republic of Cyprus until 1973 when he was sidelined by Rauf Denktas."

Settlement by various ethnic people in Cyprus has taken place agree. The fact remains the original inhabitants were Greeks. You brought as an example America - Indians the first inhabitants, Europeans the invaders, given the wars, NOW all live in peace in their own territory. Is Cyprus in the same predicament? far from it, Why? Why divided? Who provokes who for more land, more islands.

UNDISPUTABLE FACTS.

Cultural Intangible Heritage: folklore, tradition, langugage - Greeks/GCs uninterruptedly maintain.

Cultural Tangible Heritage: buildings, monuments, landscape, artifacts, books, works of art - Greek patrimony.

Ethnic Festivals do take place in Canada. Do not know about the states.
