Ahhhh no, no. no, I wouldn't do that with my brother. He's an old school shark and I would be caught in a heartbeat. He also never let's go of his stick and chalks almost every shot.
Beyond that, where I originally come from, we called that stuff "Darby pool", after a town near Philly that was kind of the dregs of the area. Anything that would not be considered clean pool playing was "Darby pool". As for ColAmigos - let us LEAD by example than be put off by fools. See you there Uncle Joe ;) Oh - it was reviewed today: http://blog.ning.com/2008/12/become-a-friend-... That guy you're talking about, I've met in person and he is a shirt-off-the-back kind of guy, really good people but after 6 or 7 years, he's getting a bit bent out of shape. He was also poisoned at an ATM a while back (scopolomina mix) and ever since then he hasn't had a very good attitude. It definitely didn't help his outlook, nor did the hospital treatment afterwards. Ayyyyyy |

I've never been to Colombia although it seems to be a ravishingly beautiful country with an fascinating history. Someday I might even find the time to visit it. I bet it's very safe in the government controlled areas.

I have been to Colombia and I was very scared because of the reports I read..........but this was not the case. I had a great time and will visit Colombia again! I went during December and the light display on the RIVER was amazing! The Carnival along the River was awesome! I even went out and had a great time. Of course, I was there visiting my best friend and so I was with a local and the best thing was that I was the first US American that ever stayed in the area I was and EVERYONE was very nice, I only wish i could speak Spanish because everyone wanted to talk with me. |

You have had my experience of "MANY" years ago. I now have a home in Colombia -- they are the nicest and most honest people I have ever met in my 60 years. |

1 True nothing like it was 30 years ago but still one of the more dangerous places for gringos and gringas to go. Ask any Colombian and they will all admit to being robed at gun point several times even if they are still in thier 20's. It is a beautiful country but very but much more dangerous then anywhere in the USA. Be very carefull when you ger off that plane and make your way out of the airport that is where most of the marks are picked. And when some motor cycle pulls up next to your cab and puts that gun in your face just be hopefull that they leave with your money and don't decide to kidnap you. |

I've been to Colombia recently and it's great! The people are friendly, the scenery is spectacular, the food is OK, and the cost is low. That said, I've also been to Venezuela twice in the last four years and I liked it even more, I think. It's got all of the same things going for it.
Both places require that you use caution and common sense. I've traveled a lot in central America, and know how to do it. There are some risks, but its seemed relatively safe to me, and I'm not crazy, but an architect in upstate New York. Randy |

Don't go into the very poor areas
Don't go into dark alleys alone Don't walk around after midnight, or walk down unlit, or streets without a number of other people present Duh! |

Where do you hang out? I asked more than 10 people, and only 2 have been robbed, and BOTH more than 3 years ago! and they are between 25 and 45 years old! Now, go to Venezuela. That's a different story, in Caracas, Maracay, Valencia, Puerto Cabello, everyone I asked (15-20 people) had been robbed in the past 5 years. The ONLY country in Lat Am I've been robbed at gun point in... Venezuela. It's a bad feeling. I'm done with that country, until they get crime and corruption under control. Unfortunately, it's getting worse. |
