The Chinese Communist Party is a dead end for China, or worse.

The economy is slowing from its once torrid pace but still very strong and growing.

A good GNP growth rate for an economy like in the US should be about 2-3 % per year whereas a goal for China's economic growth is around 7-10% which it has been achieving.
A political regression ? Yes, at some levels of government but the economic reform is too far along now that there is no turning back.
The military's reform is also moving rapidly and slowly recognizing that the US is correct about North Korea and denuclearization of the Korean peninsula is imperative.

One of the important factors in China is that the necessary political reform can continue to lag the economic reform for some time yet without having a negative impact.

China is doing well in all fronts, not perfect but well. They are reaching out to their ppl and to the world. They are planning on connecting most of Asia and Europe with HSR, great for business and tourism.

Reaching out to the world , they are indeed !
They realize that although they are reaching out to nations like Russia and India , not all nations can be economic partners.
The reaching out to Russia is more of a national security concern
to ease tensions with their powerful neighbors-especially Russia.
Russia is currently experiencing a deep need to return to "superpower " status and to foolishly take on the US , especially in the Middle East..
India, the populous nuclear power to the South of China, is more of an economic competitor and does not have any plans to attack China militarily.

China's military is progressing at warp speed also.
In ten yrs the way they are going ,they will be the #1 military power in the world also. They are graduating more scientists and techs than the whole world combined. They are working on super secret priority military projects that will really surprised you, astonishing.

I'm talking about the political REGRESSION, not reform, that has been the state of things in CCP China for five years now, so the economy has stalled and it is starting to collapse. Pretending that "only a few bad eggs are resisting reform" is just a CCP propaganda lie. The political regression is from the top all the way down.

The Chinese Communist Party is a dead end for China, or worse.

No real progress can be made under this regime which has reached the end of its capabilities. The only "military reform" in China has been a new focus on anti-foreigner hate propaganda and preparations to focus on attacking the Chinese people to keep the regime in power. That's not reform, it is regression.

As much as I like China, and having knowledge of some of America's best weapons systems, I would say America is more than 10 years ahead of China.

I would say half that, considering the current rate of Chinese military advancement and also the amount of money and people they have in this area.

I was told by one poster, that China even though they spend only 20% of what the USA spend in the military, but based on PPP and very little red tape and pork barrel spending ---the actual figure is they get three times more from what they spend than we do. Right now their jet engines are behind us but they are working on a completely new design--special boost system if successful will leap frog us by a generation. I get a lot of my info from Janes, but they oftentimes underestimate China just like the stealth planes and missiles.

I seriously doubt that because America is THE INNOVATOR and the rest of the world are the COPIERS and FOLLOWERS.

I am aware of a number of weapons systems the US has had for some time that are still considered covert or "black" that are game-changers. You can also say that those same systems have been upgraded and have become more sophisticated.

Without me sharing anymore details, America has been working on those special engines since the 1970's.

No, regression and "lack of political reform" have distinct meanings and are certainly not interchangeable.

Plus, you'd have to be an idiot not to see that the Chinese Communist Party has REGRESSED since the broken promises of the Olympics. There is more censorship and control than ever and the propaganda from the CCP is returning to old 1960's themes, and, of course, the CCP itself is paralyzed and in factional chaos just like the 60's. I expect "political purity oneupmanship" will be next from these fossils. Poor China.

No, I mean REGRESSION. See above.

I might add also that the recent "Sing the Red" campaign by the CCP is pure Mao revival.
