So, if we go by RayH's line of thinking, India will rule the world by 2050 and we are now in the transition to the India century. Once 2050 rolls around, the transfer of power from the China to India will be complete (going by Ray's logic). China will be a "has-been" overshadowed by a superior India.

India and China have long been the two largest economies on planet earth. It is possible that India might become a larger economy than China, since India is projected to have 1.7 billion people in 2050 while China is projected to have 1.3 billion people in 2050.

Brazil, Russia, European Union and United States are the remaining large economies of the world. I am sure all will do really well even the Middle East, Africa, Indonesia and the rest of the world.

The rupee, yuan and ruble continue to be weak against the dollar and the euro. This always baffled me until I found out that the Indians, Chinese and Russians print money at a much greater rate then the Americans and the Europeans. I can forsee 1 dollar buying 100 rupees in ten years timeframe. I can forsee 1 dollar buying 20 yuans in ten years timeframe. I can forsee 1 dollar buying 50 rubles in ten years timeframe.

I would not invest my hard earned money in Africa, India, China or the Middle East. There is a high degree of probability that you will have a net loss. In the outside chance that you make money in these countries, they will take it from you by force or steal it from you. They can't handle you making a few dollars on their turf. They become so stupid at times that you would not believe it and then they claim to have invented stuff like guns, nails, writing, math, chess and stuff.

I would not outsource customer service and tech support to nations like Philippines, Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, Russia, China and the sort. It seems cheap and it is but I can barely understand what they say on the phone. It is not just the accent but also the language that they use. It only frustrates me and the person on the other side of the phone. The problem is not solved after many phone calls, letters and emails. What can I say keep the customer service and tech support in america for the americans. They will be less frustrated and the economy will be better. Yes, it will cost more for the phone, bank, computer, internet, cable and other gizmos but you will get better service.

It is hard to learn a language much less 3 or 4 of them. I think the reason that America exports some of the jobs overseas is to build friendship with those forgein nations. That way, the foregin nations will buy american made goods like, cars, computers, toys, consultancy services, airplanes and other goods. If America want's other nations to buy it's goods then those nations will want to sell their goods to america. I am sure that we all know that but I still have to say it.

America is a great country. It allows people from around the world to arrive to it's land, live, work and play. I think only Brazil is as flexible with foregin arrivals. It is hard for foreginers to move to Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Philippines, Nigeria, Iran, Congo, Egypt, Italy, Germany and other nations. I think we should do away with the visa thing. I think that the passport is enough, it tells where you are from where you live and stuff like that. All this protectionism is not good. It causes foregin goods to cost 10 times as much later in life. Life is all about give and take.

Oh I know what will happen to the children of the western economies. They will be working their arses of for thirty years to repay the current debt. Unless of course they die on some foreign battlefield because the industrial war machine find proof of more WMDs (It is never about the oil!) Party on sunshine, your kids can pick up the tab!

I used to think that but then I learned the truth. Much of the debt of the western world is to the western world. They do not owe Africa or India or the Middle East. There are the haves and the have nots in the westeren world. The ones in debt would essentially be working for their kinsmen, not the Asians, Arabs or Africans. Revaluing the EURO and the DOLLAR against the Yuan, Ruble, Rupee, Peso, Taka, Dong, Dinar, Naira and similar currencies can fix the trade balance. Fewer jobs would be shipped overseas. Though, the Africans, Arabs, Asians and Indians would not buy as much from the Western world in such a case.

I think humanity will be ok. Many nations have defaulted on their debt over time. It is nothing new. When they default, their credit rating drops, the interest rate at which they can borrow goes up and the amount they can borrow goes down. It may mean a slight population reduction due to shortage of resources but again it is nothing new. Many civilization have come and gone. Many new civilizations will arise.

What happens by 2050, will be Indians pushing the deadline for India overtaking China to 2100. LOL!!

Indians predicted India's overtake of China by 2010. Didn't happen.

Then they pushed the year to 2020. But it seems our Indian friends aren't too sure about 2020 either.

Thats why they now set the date for 2050.

Indians should be more realistic and set the date for the next millenium.

2050 is too far away to predict. Could you imagine what life was like back in 1970? Totally different world from today's.

Back in the 60s and early 70s, India was a much wealthier country than China but look at them now.
The caste system will always keep India down, you can't have just 1% of your population controlling 99% of the wealth, it needs to tricled down and be shared among the masses. China in 2050 will have a middle class of 85%, that is even higher than most of the western countries. Yes China has corruption but not as bad as most western countries with their pols legally stealing money from the masses.

Great point. I think by 2050 and for sure by 2100 India will become the largest economy on the planet. America, European Union and Japan have very large debt levels. Africa, Middle East, China, India and Latin America do not have much debt. They may become very wealthy overnight. Here is a projection of possible GDP levels of various groups.

http://www.ronanlyons.com/wp-content/uploads/...

Also note, that China's population is declining and India's population is increasing. Even Africa's population is increasing. It is possibe that Africa will have nearly 30% of the world population and 25% of the world GDP by the year 2100. The Middle East has vast sums of oil and gas and is very wealthy. The Middle East nations may stop accepting Dollars and Euros as payment for the oil and gas. This may cause a sharp decline in the Euro and Dollar. India, China and Russia keep printing more money to show 10% GDP growth. This leads to inflation and the goverment tries to fix it by fixing the price of oil, rent and foodgrain. You should do some research and you will be happy.

But it seems that our slumdogs from India have a magic crystal ball to predict the future.

Even though all their predictions have been false so far.
