SO the best solution is for the USA to take them back to be used as a military base?
It seems so simple when you put it like that..........
Perhaps the US want, but China won't allow. Unless the US wanna damage sino-us friendship,or they shall give up the idea.

For another, even if the US want, will Taiwan agree to? they will not, they do not wanna be ruled by any other western powers.
Once they has outbroke a demonstration against American ractopamine beef.

That's the source of the problem. Back in San Francisco in 1951, Uncle Sam didn't want to give the Diaoyu Islands to mainland China, as it had turned Communist. They didn't want to give it to Taiwan, as they didn't think the Kuomintang would last long.
Doesn't matter. US controlled it and gave it to the Japanese. Simple as that.

You're historical merit deosn't amount to much, only something that happened 200 to 100 years ago. Times have changed and those island have gone through different hands. What matters is who had it before and who it was lost to or given to. Everything else is history.

The source of the problem is that you guys are still stuck in the past. Until you look at the present, what really matters, you're so called history is just going to complicate everything.

US never wanted those islands. Thats why they gave it to the Japanese.

Ur right, Taiwan and China would not be happy with a US military base there. But, in this situation, no ones going to get those islands without bloodshed. Sometimes you need someone nutraul to take control of the place. Maybe not even the US. whatever man... you get my point. However, you do that, you will still get crybabies. Im sure though, Taiwan and Japan would welcome the base more than China.

No ones willing to compromise, or negotiate and either way, someone is going to be crying and whining and moaning. There is no happy ending and its all China's Taiwan's and Japan's fault.

But the Japs weren't given sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands. It was to be decided between Japan and China.

Anyways, nobody cared about those islands until it was suggested in 1969 that there might be oil nearby.

Look at a map. The oilfields are in Japanese waters no matter who controls the disputed islands.
