Taiwan has demanded an explanation and apology from the Philippines after a fisherman was shot and killed in disputed waters, BBC reported.
The incident happened early on Thursday in waters 170 miles (315 km) south of Taiwan, Taipei's foreign ministry said.
A boat carrying a crew of four was fired on by what Taipei called a Philippine government boat, killing 65-year-old Hung Shih-cheng.
There has been no comment yet from the Philippine government on the incident.
Taiwan's coast guard sent vessels to the area - in waters both sides say lie within their 200-nautical-mile from shore exclusive economic zone - to aid the fishing crew.
Last year, the Philippines and China became embroiled in a lengthy stand-off at the Scarborough shoal, which both claim. The stand-off ended after several weeks but ties between the two sides chilled significantly over the incident.
A Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman also condemned the shooting and called for an investigation, a Xinhua news agency report said.

Do not waste your time demanding for explanation and apology.
Sink the Philippino ship who shot and killed the Taiwanese fisherman.

Andrez are you retarded? How do you even know if Filipinos are even guilty of the act?
Perhaps you should go back to Mexico with your attitude, plenty of Indios down there to exploit.
Or, even "better", Taiwan should nuke the Philippines for it?
I find it ridiculous that some Hispanic is turning into a Taiwanese shoe-shine boy, despite all those "cultural links" between Philippines and Spain. Now that is really silly.

Yep. That's what we would do if a third world country navy killed an American fishermen.
