Think your father should have taken his family to visit India, the world's largest democracy, to see how that's working out. In 1949, the economies of India and China were about the same. Today, India's GDP is nearly 1/5 of China's. Their "democracy"
is one of the key obtacles holding back economic progress.
How did "democracy" work out for the previous Republic of China on the mainland? Did democracy prevent the ROC from being a weak, impoverished dicatorship that was the doormat of foreign invaders?

Thankyou for the warning.
Although are very patriotic Ray, and that means that even when Chinese express heart-felt criticism of their own government, which is, for cultural reasons ingrained in your language and thinking itself, extremely difficult for Chinese to do, you still refrain from conceding one iota of truth in what they say.
I am not criticizing that stand point, though it does appear a little extreme lol
However, I would really like to know, even though you prefer China, what things do you like about some of the countries you have visited?
Are there superiorities that other countries have over China?
You have mentioned several inferiorities that other countries have in comparison.
Do you feel that on these points,China is superior?
1. Quality of food
2. Nature of people, including moral and personal attributes, of which intelligence may be considered one
3.Environmental quality
4.Social i.e. wining,dining,night life,beauty of the people
5.Quality of life,such as income
6. Gina coefficient, distribution of wealth, human rights and general perception of a fair deal, including welfare provisions for the young and elderly, ability to have a say in governmental decisions etc.
Thankyou!
Incidentally, no-one should make out that Ray is stupid or doesn't know what he is talking about. He may have suffered to get to where he is today and we all know China's troubled history, its recent sUccess and the consequent pride and more importantly, gratitude, that many Chinese must feel.
Let us not forget, Westerners, that Ray IS Chinese, and therefore must and does know a lot!!!!!

No more. The Chinese government may not be as evil as some sources portray it, I agree. But it is much more evil than most people even in China understand. The government does not see its people as anything to be valued, only tools to build up its military and economy, nothing more.
As a Chinese citizen, most of my family is loyal to the PRC, with my father and grandparents card-holding members of the political group. My father even wanted to bring our family to North Korea to visit this summer.
Most Chinese think that democracy does not "suit" China, because it is too large. This is false, and goes against the roots of China's earliest governments, including the Three People's Principles which the PRC arrogantly pretends to adopt.
The ethnocentric, Han supremacy mindset of the Chnese people is both closed and potentially dangerous. The mob psychology and shallow nationalism the PRC uses to incite us and unite us against the West is hypocritical, and against progress.
We have forever betrayed our ideals, our principles, our traditions, our ancestors, our allies, and our own humanity in siding with our government instead of siding with our conscience. I do not want to focus on foreign governments and what they have done - I want to focus on ours.
China is a unique nation - time goes by, and dynasty after dynasty collapses only to give birth to a new one. The PRC will not last forever, and when it finally collapses, I want our people to embrace the future in hope - hope for not only a stronger China, but a better one as well.
I love my nation. But I love my people more.
Ray and Dzhou both think you are actually a Western English teacher, that is, a TEFLER, someone who would have been paid by EF or Wall Street to teach them English. Ray said the bit about about your dad inviting you and the family out to North Korea is a dead giveaway. What say you ?!

Snowflake ( anyone seen Fight Club?) then chipped in that China's meteoric rise to power on the world stage has spawned many imitators, so called ' wannabbees', of whose throng she counts you in. Though in her heart of hearts, the twisted and beautiful heart of a snowflake - she knows America still holds sway. Despite people with PhDs going postal in Plato's cave.

it is all about the CCP and not the Chinese people, unfortunately---most Chinese have been mis-educated and brainwashed in the communist school system---the Chinese people have been badly damaged in their ability to think rationally thanks to the CCP
Leonard, I just want to ask, what exactly gives you the authority to verify that posters comments on the Chinese people and their government? You may have that authority, I'm not doubting it. But I hope you have seriously learned Chinese, lived there for mre than two years and spoken to more than fifty people about Chinese politics in Chinese.

I've lived there for five, have advanced oral Mandarin and have listened well over fifty people talking in Chinese about what they think. I'm not trying to play the old ' my dads taller than your dad' game, but you must have a reason ad rational for saying what you say. I've actually met Chinese dissidents and used to live in their area, spoken to underground church activists..

You? Can you really say x is way beyond y?( Whether that's true or not) What's your deal with the CCP?

Leonard is another Free Tibet nut job. A Tibetan athlete just won Olympics bronze for women's 20 kilometers race walk in London, the first Tibetan ever to do so. To Leonard, Qieyang Shenjie would be a "Tibetan Collaborator."
