Philippines changed its tone about China's relief efforts

Initially, Acquino III was hostile and refused China's proposal to send rescue teams and even naval hospital ship to help Haiyan victims.
China made its proposal the day following the typhoon.
Acquino govt was hostile, and refused to respond. Manila did not even allow China's cargo plane carrying relief materials to land. At the same time, American, Japan and their allies seized the opportunity to slander China's meager efforts in helping the Philippines.
US media was relentless in launching the attack and the rescue effort was exploited politically to attack China literally round the clock. That makes people wonder whether the Americans and Japanese are placing their primary focus on helping the victims or something else.
USA media sent out conflicting messages upfront. A newspaper said China was weak and was incapable of launching a rescue efforts in the scale as what the USA and Japan are doing. The same report said even if China offered to come to the Philippines, it wouldn't be allowed.
Another US newspaper said China was so effective in helping its own victims of natural disasters but refused to help the Philippines.
However, politicians in the Philippines have miscalculated. Surprisingly, when media and politicians in the west were attacking China, the Filipino media was silent. Apparently, they did not want to be hijacked by western anti-China media to use this tragedy against China. Saving lives is more important. Some Philippines netizens and citizens got angry at their govt, saying that no one had the right to reject China who offered a kind gesture. Angry Filipinos told the govt to let them in to help the victims.
Soon Acquino's spokesperson said, they appreciated any kind of help from China however little the help was. They also empathetically said China was a victim of the same typhoon. Typhoon Haiyan had killed and injured hundreds of people and created 4 million victims which needed help from the govt.
After that the Philippines govt lifted the restriction on China. Rescue teams and cargo planes carrying relief materials arrived shortly from China.
The naval medical ship "Peace Ark" was dispatched and greeted by victims and other people in the Philippines. Many expressed their gratitude to the Chinese people.
As a friendly gesture, the Philippines govt dispatched marines to protect the Chinese rescue and medical workers.

In time like this, PLAN 10,000 tons Hospital Ship "Peace Ark" can be described as Godsend to Philippines. The Ship has 300 hospital beds and there are many operating theater on board.
I never realized so many Filipino were in need of medical attention so badly as none of their medical facilities is functioning properly due to lack of electricity, clean water and medical supplies.
Having seen the pictures of the Chinese Medical Team in action where many of the Filipino victims have their limbs amputated as the result of delayed treatment due to gangrene is saddening.
Although the Chinese Medical Relief Teams and Chinese Hospital Ship finally arrived after more than 2 weeks, we can see from the pictures, how dysfunctional the Philippines Government is?
After the Tsunami in Acheh, China suddenly realized that she needed Hospital Ships in order to help the neighboring countries in time of relief. The Hospital Ship "Peace Ark" is indeed a CANDLE in the DARK and that what the suffering victims of Haiyan Typhoon were praying for.
