allowing communist china attending Olympic games is a direct violation of the basic principles of Olympic spirit, which states unequivocally armature and non professionality to be the basic rules. communist china sent a large sate sponsore team to compete with other nation's amatures. this is not a fair play. additionally, with such a horrible human right records, the UK should feel ashamed to allow a criminal state to set feet on its soil, much less to compete and demonsate muscle

Think your English teaching days are over and it's time to get the boot out of China. Live it or leave it.

Incorrect!

The first Olympics to officially accept professional athletes was 1988 in selected sports and 1992 in the remainder.

'Professional' may be defined as someone being paid as a full time athelete or receiving money for sponsorship, advertising etc.
Effectively the Olympic games are now open to professionals and seemingly it's not against the rules. The UK is one of many nations who field 'professional' atheletes.
