Well, I spent some of my childhood and adulthood in Singapore for more than 2 decades from 70s. I still have a property there and visit Singapore regularly. I do understand Singapore English or singlish as they call it. In this 21st century, I don't think Singaporean pretends to speak English with British slang. They are pretty at ease with their English whether you like it or not. In fact I do enjoy Singapore made movies, they are always a good laugh and bring back fond memories. My Singapore friends speak singlish, and I have no problem with them.
The problem you have is I think you are expecting Hong kees and Singaporeans to speak British English because they are past British colonies. You think they try to associate themselves with British, which is in fact is misguided. Hong kees and Singaporeans are too proud and confident today to pretend to be anyone else other than themselves. Both their GDP per capita have surpassed Britain and US, they are more than capable of defining their own identity. I respect that and I do hope you can be less judgmental and stereotype.
